Are those webmaster tools any good for building web sites?  I'm assuming they are but it would be nice to have a form of confirmation.

I have done some minor updates to an old site of mine (It actually was just sitting around on the hard drive) and uploaded it to an unused domain. There are probably some dead links on there, but most of them should work and should provide you with all kinds of free webmaster tools.
