Davis is best known as General George Hammond from Stargate SG-1.  Davis appeared as a guest star on many TV shows and appeared in a lot of low budget movies and some work in major pictures (ie, A League of Their Own).

I didn't know until I read this article that he was also Dana Elcar's stunt double on McGyver.

Oh wow.  He's been in a ton of tv shows...probably one of those ones that folks will recognize his face if not his name.

RIP, Don.

I read this and expected he was the mniddle-aged guy on all the SG1 commercials, then I did an image search and thought he was the guy who played Pauly from Darkman. Then I looked him up and found out he died last year... Bluesad

I got the chance to meet him at a convention once and he was very down to earth, warm and friendly.

Farewell, Hammond of Texas. RIP

The FDA has been looking for a generic name for Viagra. After careful consideration by a team of government experts, it recently announced that it has settled on the generic name of Mycoxafloppin. Also considered were Mycoxafailin, Mydixadrupin, Mydixarizin, Dixafix, and of course, Ibepokin.

That's a shame, IAK (I have to get used to calling you that now).

I'll never forget him playing Dana Scully's father in that X Filesepisode Beyond The Sea where he appears to her (long after he and her mom have left) sitting in a chair, across from her and she says "Dad? I thought you left already."

Then the phone rings:  Buggedout Buggedout Buggedout

Oh man, that's a huge bummer.  I didn't recognize his name at first, but as soon as you said it was General Hammond, jeez, I really liked that guy.  Especialy on Stargate, he seemed perfect for the part and added a whole lot to the show.  He was a fatherly figure, a really nice guy, but at the same time he didn't take any crap and if you crossed the line he cut you down a notch or two.

RIP Don, you'll be missed.

Not surprising. I've gotten those two mixed up before.
