Well, it's sort of the polar opposite of 'political correctness'. They think 'homosexual' sounds much scarier than 'gay' so they forbid the use of the word.

It's be like a KKK site automatically replacing 'African-American' with a word they think sound more menacing, like 'colored' or 'despoiler of our white wimmin'..
