3. "Now if there's a smile on my face, it's only there trying to fool the public."

Smokey Robinson - Tears of a Clown

11."Nicotine, Valium, Vicodin, marijuana, ecstasy and alcohol."

This is not a song; it's my weekend shopping list.

19. "Teddy sniffing glue, he was 12 years old, fell from the roof on East Two-nine."

I think the name of the song is "People Who Died."  I'm not sure who the singer/band is, I don't think it was anyone famous - a one-hit wonder.  Not the Sex Pistols.  It's on the "Basketball Diaries" soundtrack.  Close enough?

Wild guess here, is it Queens Of The Stoneage, can't remember the song title though.

To end the suspense, here are the answers to mine.

1. "I drive alone home from work, and I always think of her.  Late at night I call her, but I never say a word."  Camper van Beethoven, "All Her Favorite Fruit."

2. "All night, all I hear, all I hear is your heart.  I twisted you over and under to take you
The coals went so wild as they swallowed the rest."  Neko Case,  "Furnace Room Lullaby"

3. "Once I loved, and I gave so much love to this love it was the world to me."  "Once I Loved", the most famous version is by Ella Fotzgerald, though this cover was by Damien Rice and Lisa Hannigan.

4. "There's a silver stream laid across the sky, and this city lifts up it's arms to it."  Angels of Light, "Evangeline"

5. "When I first saw you standing there, a dozen thoughts went through my mind.  You know I ain't no fortuneteller, but I can damn sure tell the time."  Vinx, Temproary Love.

6.  "Jennifer save me."  Golden Smog, "Jennifer Save Me"

7. "I don't want no aggravation, when my train has left the station, if you're there or not I may not even know."  Johnny Cash, "Let the Train Blow the Whistle"

8. "The smell of the bakery from across the street got in my nose."  Van Morrison, "Cleaning Windows"

9. "Gotta get off, gonna get, have to get off of this ride.  Gotta get hold, gonna get, need to get hold of my pride."  k.d. lang, "The Theme from the Valley of the Dolls"

10.  "God rest ye merry gentlemen, let nothing you dismay." Picked: "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen."  The version is by Aimee Mann.

11. "I'm quittin' my job in the mines, gonna travel that road through the hills and the pines."  (Very obscure).  100 Damned Guns, "In the Mines"

12.  "Nobody's fault but mine, it's nobody's fault but mine." Picked: "Nobody's Fault But Mine", covered by Led Zeppelin among others.

13. "How can I tell you that I missed you in all those letters that I meant to write?"  Vinx, "Porch Light"

14. "I'm trembling, and you got the touch.  I'm under, and you got the power."  Joan Armatrading, "Like Fire"

15. "I cover the waterfront, watching the ships go by."  John Lee Hooker, "The Waterfront" (AKA "I Cover the Waterfront")

16. "Now that you've found yourself losing your mind, are you here again?"  Neil Young, "I Believe in You"

17. "Friday left me fumblin'' with the blues, and it's hard to win when you always lose."  Tom Waits, "Fumblin' with the Blues"

18.  "Reach a hand to the crescent moon, grab hold of the hollow."  Cowboy Junkies, "Crescent Moon"

19. "Hey good lookin', what you got cookin'?" Picked: "Hey Good Lookin'", originally by Hank Williams.  The version I have is a cool duet by Buckwheat Zydeco and Dwight Yoakum.

20. "It was the time of the preacher,, when the story began 'bout the choice of a lady, and the love of a man." Picked: "Time of the Preaher", a Willie Nelson original covered by Johnny Cash.  (My version was a cover by Carla Bozulich).

21. "I don't know what you're thinking, should I stay or say goodbye?"  Joan Armatrading, "Somebody Who Loves You"

22. "Everybody's talkin' at me, I don't hear a word they're saying, only the echoes of my mind."  Picked: "Everybody's Talkin' at Me", from the movie MIDNIGHT COWBOY, composed by Harry Nilsson.  (My version was by Bobby Bare).

23. "Don't start them talking, I could talk all night.  My mind goes sleepwalking, while I'm putting the world to right." Elvis Costello, "Oliver's Army"

24. "Back on the corner, I'm singing the blues, I can see my reflection in the shine of your shoes."  John Hiatt, "Back on the Corner"

25. "So I try hard to be good and do the things I should, I give up everything that I enjoy."  Louis Armstroing and Ella Fitzgerald, "Necessary Evil"

Sorry, RCMerchant, but those aren't quite the titles. #10 though is a bit of a trick, since it's kind of a novelty song from the '90s involving the Gregorians.

#2 is indeed "f**king Hostile" by Pantera.

#17 is "I Sit in Acid" by the Lords of Acid

#3 is correct, "Tears of a Clown" by Smokey Robinson

#11 is "Feel Good Hit of the Summer" by Queens of the Stone Age (Note: That first line is almost all of the lyrics in the entire song.)

#19 is "People Who Died" by the Jim Carroll Band, the guy who the movie The Basketball Diaries was actually about.

Round Two for me.  Most of these ended up being extremely easy.

1.) At night I walk this stinkin' street past the crazies on my block.
2.) I just think of you and  I start to glow and I need your light and baby you know.
3.) Girl you're like a book with a page torn out.  You can turn a whisper to a shout.
4.) I was working as a waitress in a cocktail bar, that much is true.
5.) I'd kill myself for you, I'd kill you for myself.
6.) get yourself cooler, lay yourself low  coincidental murder, with nothing to show
7.) The siren sings a Lonely song of all the Wants and hungers
8.) Wake up bloodshot eyes struggle to memorize the way it felt between your thighs.
9.) Darkness, imprisoning me, all that I see, absolute horror.
10.) The lesson now is don't give in, aim for a new tomorrow.
11.) Too high to get over, to low to get under, you're stuck in the middle and the pain is thunder.
12.) If I had my druthers, I'd screw a chimpanzee.
13.) So i tucked my hair up under my hat and I went in to ask him why.
14.) Now you're punching and your kicking and your shouting at me.  I'm relying on your common decency.
15.) Every now and then I get a little bit lonely and you never come around.
16.) I made excuse for a million lies but all I got was humble kidney pie.
17.) Mama says that I never never mind her.
18.) And would it pay you more to walk on water Than to wear a crown of thorns
19.) You, took all there was to take  And left me with an empty plate  And you don't care about it
20) I wanna run, i want to hid i want to tear down the walls that hold me inside.

4.) I was working as a waitress in a cocktail bar, that much is true.

Shoot, I know this song, just not who sings it.  Another part goes something, "Don't you want me, baby?  Don't you want me ooooh!"  Or some such.

9.) Darkness, imprisoning me, all that I see, absolute horror.

Metallica - "One"

13.) So i tucked my hair up under my hat and I went in to ask him why.

Telsa - "Signs"

15.) Every now and then I get a little bit lonely and you never come around.

"Total Eclipse of the Heart" - by Bonnie Taylor (with Meatloaf) there was also a faster dance version by Nikki French.  Song's been like the theme of my life of late... :(

20) I wanna run, i want to hid i want to tear down the walls that hold me inside.

"Where the Streets Have No Name" - U2

Wow, four for sure!  That's a record for me on these things!  :)

....

1. "There was a gentle angler who was angling in the sea, with heart as cold as only heart untaught of love can be."

2. "Almost every day I see the same face on broken picture tube..."
"f**king Hostile" Pantera

3. "Now if there's a smile on my face, it's only there trying to fool the public."
"Tears of a Clown" Smokey Robinson

4. "Watch out; you might get what you're after."
"Burning Down the House" Talking Heads

5. "Alcohol on my hands, I got plans to ditch myself and get outside."

9. "I am the key to lock in your house that keeps the toys in the basement."
"Climbing Up the Walls" Radiohead

10. "Procedamus in pace in nomine Christi, Amen."
"Sadeness Part 1" Enigma

11."Nicotine, Valium, Vicodin, marijuana, ecstasy and alcohol."
"Feel Good Hit of the Summer" Queens of the Stone Age

12. "Mama, take this badge from me. I can't use it anymore."
"Knocking on Heaven's Door" Bob Dylan

13. "Will someone please call a surgeon who can crack my ribs and repair this broken heart?"
"Nothing Better" The Postal Service

14. "Cease to resist giving my goodbye. Drive my car into the ocean."
"Wave of Mutilation" The Pixies

15. "Here we stand, world's apart, hearts broken in two."
"Separate Ways" Journey

16. "I can't give you all my dreams, nor the life I live."
"The Song from the End Credits of City of Lost Children" Marianne Faithful - Yeah, probably too tricky.

17. "Darling come here, f**k me up the-"
"I Sit in Acid" Lords of Acid

18. "Two scientists were racing for the good of all mankind."
"Race for the Prize" The Flaming Lips

19. "Teddy sniffing glue, he was 12 years old, fell from the roof on East Two-nine."
