BTM, is there a round 2?

If enough people want one, I'll post it.

May have to get some more mp3s though, good chance a lot of the same songs will appear on the second list as well.  (That or I could just keep hitting "random" till they don't.)  HEHE!

:)

Maybe we all can take turns?  Let me know, you're the gamemaster.   Wink

Gamemaster?  Dude, I'm just the first guy to try it on this board.  Actually, I stole the idea from a friend's livejournal post!  :)

So, if you want to try, go ahead!

My collection may be a bit of a challenge (though there are several gimmes here), but I'll give it you guys a chance if you want.  Several songs are covers, so the original or best known version counts.  There are several alt-country numbers and jazz standards in here, with a couple of classic rock tunes as well.  Almost nothing here is from after 2000.

1. "I drive alone home from work, and I always think of her."

2. "All night, all I hear, all I hear is your heart."

3. "Once I loved, and I gave so much love to this love it was the world to me."

4. "There's a silver stream laid across the sky, and this city lifts up it's arms to it."

5. "When I first saw you standing there, a dozen thoughts went through my mind."  (Obscure)

6.  "Jennifer save me."

7. "I don't want no aggravation, when my train has left the station, if you're there or not I may not even know."

8. "The smell of the bakery from across the street got in my nose."

9. "Gotta get off, gonna get, have to get off of this ride."

10.  "God rest ye merry gentlemen, let nothing you dismay."

11. "I'm quittin' my job in the mines, gonna travel that road through the hills and the pines."  (Very obscure).

12.  "Nobody's fault but mine, it's nobody's fault but mine."

13. "How can I tell you that I missed you in all those letters that I meant to write?" (Obscure)

14. "I'm trembling, and you got the touch."

15. "I cover the waterfront, watching the ships go by."

16. "Now that you've found yourself losing your mind, are you here again?"

17. "Friday left me fumblin'' with the blues, and it's hard to win when you always lose."

18.  "Reach a hand to the crescent moon, grab hold of the hollow."

19. "Hey good lookin', what you got cookin'?"

20. "It was the time of the preacher,, when the story began 'bout the choice of a lady, and the love of a man."

21. "I don't know what you're thinking, should I stay or say goodbye?"

22. "Everybody's talkin' at me, I don't hear a word they're saying, only the echoes of my mind."

23. "Don't start them talking, I could talk all night."

24. "Back on the corner, I'm singing the blues, I can see my reflection in the shine of your shoes."

25. "So I try hard to be good and do the things I should, I give up everything that I enjoy."

I'll hit the obvious ones first on Rev's list...

12.) Nodody's Fault Led Zep
19.) Hey Good Lookin' Hank Williams Sr

To sweeten the pot, here is my list...obviously let me and Rev know which your list you are answering from.  If anything this will show off the ridiculous mix of stuff on my Ipod.

1.) Gripping the wheel his knuckles went white with desire.  The wheels of his mustang exploding on the highway like a slug from a .45.

2.) Its poetry in motion.  When she turned her eyes to me.

3.) I want to know, why the people are everywhere.  And I want to know, where to go if I get scared.

4.) Opportunity knocks once lets reach out and grab it, together we’ll nab it, we’ll hitchhike bus or yellow cab-it.

5.) But I really want tonight to last forever, I really want to be with you.  Let the music play on down the line tonight.

6.) Twisting turning schizophrenia, falling deep into dementia.

7.) And as a matter of fact it blows my mind you would even talk to me.  Because a girl like you is a girl come true, a real life fantasy.

8.) Six foot two and rude as hell.  Gotta get him in the ground before he starts to smell.

9.) This is the noise that keeps me awake, my head explodes and my body aches.

10.) Am I black or white?  Am I straight or gay?

11.) Did you read the news today?  They say that dangers come our way.

12.)  These tears I cry, they aren’t in vain.  They’re only to hide my guilt and shame.  I forgive you and now I ask the same of you.

13.) That old man he’s a real mother f*cker gonna kick him on down the line.

14.) Do you think I could have a drink, cause its so hard to swallow.  Yeah, so hard to swallow.

15.) She was pretty from New York City.  Walkin’ down that same old fair lane.

16.) Eyes bulging from their sockets With every swing of my mallet I smash your f**king head in, until brains seep in through the cracks

17.) Wrapped up like a deuce another runner in the  night.

18.) I think you threw an oath on me Well, hold it, baby, just you wait and see

19.) Now you talkin' like you made a change The more you talk, the more things sound the same

20.) Dance all night, play all day, don’t let nothing get in your way.

21.) Have you seen junior’s grades?

22.) I met this girl around quarter to ten We made it once, she said, "Make me again."

23)  When you're old, nobody will know that you was a beauty, a sweet sweet beauty A sweet sweet beauty, but stone stone cold

24.) Make love not war sounds so absurd to me.  We can’t afford to say these words like this.  Or else our world will truly rest in peace.

25.) Many distant miles away Past the shores of ever dark There stays a magic man Who bears an evil mark

I'll give you 12 because it matches, but that wasn't what I was playing.  "Nobody's fault but Mine" is an old spiritual, the version I have is by David Bromberg.  Looks like Led Zep took the traditional lyrics and changed them a little bit.  I wasn't aware they covered it.  I've never even heard "Presence"!

Hmm... don't really know too much country, except for some old school stuff from the 80s... let's see...

10.  "God rest ye merry gentlemen, let nothing you dismay."

Well, of course, that's "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" classic Christmas song, which version you have could be anyone's guess as I'm sure there's about several hundred of them.  :)

14. "I'm trembling, and you got the touch."

Hmm. is that by chance the song "The Touch" by Alabama?

10 is correct, of course.  It's one of the dead giveaways.

14 is incorrect.  They're not all country/alt-country, which makes it more difficult.
