>11.) Did you read the news today?  They say that dangers come our way.

Sounds like "Land of Confusion" by Genesis (and there was a cover by Disturbed) although that's not the first line of the song (unless, of course, you're playing a variation of the game, then it's cool.)

But, as I recall, the first line is, "I must have dreamed a thousands dreams, been haunted by a million screams, but I can hear the marching feet, moving into the street."

Wow, all that from memory!  :)

Darksider...

4. Is "Movin' Right Along" by Paul Williams

5. "Last Train To London" by ELO

9. Is "Push It" by Garbage??

12. Is it "Human" by The Human League? (love that song!)

19. "My Lovin'" by En Vogue

24. Is "Rest In Peace" by Extreme
Correct!  My version of "Movin Right Along" is directly from the Muppet Movie soundtrack.

>11.) Did you read the news today?  They say that dangers come our way.

Sounds like "Land of Confusion" by Genesis (and there was a cover by Disturbed) although that's not the first line of the song (unless, of course, you're playing a variation of the game, then it's cool.)

Correct!  Ok here's whats left:

3.) I want to know, why the people are everywhere. And I want to know, where to go if I get scared. (90s rock)

10.) Am I black or white? Am I straight or gay? (really early song from a pop legend)

14.) Do you think I could have a drink, cause its so hard to swallow. Yeah, so hard to swallow. (this band got pelted with rocks in Portugal)

18.) I think you threw an oath on me Well, hold it, baby, just you wait and see (has a girl's name in the title of the song)

20.) Dance all night, play all day, don’t let nothing get in your way. (80s pop rock)

23) When you're old, nobody will know that you was a beauty, a sweet sweet beauty A sweet sweet beauty, but stone stone cold (classic rock band)

I think mine were a bit too hard, so I'm going to add some hints.

1. "I drive alone home from work, and I always think of her.  Late at night I call her, but I never say a word."  Alternative rock band from the 1980s.

2. "All night, all I hear, all I hear is your heart.  I twisted you over and under to take you
The coals went so wild as they swallowed the rest."  Alt-country songstress.  Released 2000.

3. "Once I loved, and I gave so much love to this love it was the world to me."  Jazz standard.

4. "There's a silver stream laid across the sky, and this city lifts up it's arms to it."  Current "folk noir" band.  Voltron would get this one.

5. "When I first saw you standing there, a dozen thoughts went through my mind.  You know I ain't no fortuneteller, but I can damn sure tell the time."  (Obscure).  R&Bish singer songwriter from the 1990s.  I doubt anyone will get this.

6.  "Jennifer save me."  Sung by Jeff Tweedy but not with Wilco.

7. "I don't want no aggravation, when my train has left the station, if you're there or not I may not even know."  Country/folk.  I am sure at least one of you American have this Recordings.

8. "The smell of the bakery from across the street got in my nose."  Classic rock, "blue-eyed soul."

9. "Gotta get off, gonna get, have to get off of this ride.  Gotta get hold, gonna get, need to get hold of my pride."  The theme song to a very bad 1960s movie melodrama.

10.  "God rest ye merry gentlemen, let nothing you dismay." Picked: "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen."  The version is by Aimee Mann.

11. "I'm quittin' my job in the mines, gonna travel that road through the hills and the pines."  (Very obscure).  A current alt-country bar band from Dallas, TX (I believe).  The title of the song is in the quoted lyrics, so I'll give credit to anyone who guesses it.

12.  "Nobody's fault but mine, it's nobody's fault but mine." Picked: "Nobody's Fault But Mine", covered by Led Zeppelin among others.

13. "How can I tell you that I missed you in all those letters that I meant to write?" (Obscure)  Same artist as #5.

14. "I'm trembling, and you got the touch.  I'm under, and you got the power." From a 1970s female singer-songwriter.

15. "I cover the waterfront, watching the ships go by."  Classic blues ballad.

16. "Now that you've found yourself losing your mind, are you here again?"  Classic rock.  AllHallowsDay would get this for sure.

17. "Friday left me fumblin'' with the blues, and it's hard to win when you always lose."  From a jazzy early 1970s album by a cult singer-songwriter who's still active today; title of the song is in the quoted lyrics.

18.  "Reach a hand to the crescent moon, grab hold of the hollow."  Canadian alt-country band that made their mark in the 1990s but still tours today.

19. "Hey good lookin', what you got cookin'?" Picked: "Hey Good Lookin'", originally by Hank Williams.  The version I have is a cool duet by Buckwheat Zydeco and Dwight Yoakum.

20. "It was the time of the preacher,, when the story began 'bout the choice of a lady, and the love of a man." Picked: "Time of the Preaher", a Willie Nelson original covered by Johnny Cash.  (My version was a cover by Carla Bozulich).

21. "I don't know what you're thinking, should I stay or say goodbye?"  Same album as #14.

22. "Everybody's talkin' at me, I don't hear a word they're saying, only the echoes of my mind."  Picked: "Everybody's Talkin' at Me", from the movie MIDNIGHT COWBOY, composed by Harry Nilsson.  (My version was by Bobby Bare).

23. "Don't start them talking, I could talk all night.  My mind goes sleepwalking, while I'm putting the world to right."  1970s singer -songwriter, still active today.  Originally claimed by both punk and new wave.

24. "Back on the corner, I'm singing the blues, I can see my reflection in the shine of your shoes."  Another alt-country singer songwriter.  Title is in the lyrics.

25. "So I try hard to be good and do the things I should, I give up everything that I enjoy."  "But if you slip a bit and your heart says this is it, that's a necessary evil, my boy."  Underperformed jazz standard.  The first spoken words in this duet before the lyrics begin are, "Louie, you're trouble."

I don't know if everybody else's lists were finished, although I think they are. What follows is my list. Note: I cheated, I have a lot of songs on my computer I've never listened to, so I skipped ahead. Anyway...

1. "There was a gentle angler who was angling in the sea, with heart as cold as only heart untaught of love can be."

2. "Almost every day I see the same face on broken picture tube..."

3. "Now if there's a smile on my face, it's only there trying to fool the public."

4. "Watch out; you might get what you're after."

5. "Alcohol on my hands, I got plans to ditch myself and get outside."

6. "I dare you to be real, to touch a flickering flame."

7. "We passed upon the stairs, we spoke of was and when."

8. "No need to whine, boy, like a wind-up toy you stutter at my feet."

9. "I am the key to lock in your house that keeps the toys in the basement."

10. "Procedamus in pace in nomine Christi, Amen."

11."Nicotine, Valium, Vicodin, marijuana, ecstasy and alcohol."

12. "Mama, take this badge from me. I can't use it anymore."

13. "Will someone please call a surgeon who can crack my ribs and repair this broken heart?"

14. "Cease to resist giving my goodbye. Drive my car into the ocean."

15. "Here we stand, world's apart, hearts broken in two."

16. "I can't give you all my dreams, nor the life I live."

17. "Darling come here, f**k me up the-"

18. "Two scientists were racing for the good of all mankind."

19. "Teddy sniffing glue, he was 12 years old, fell from the roof on East Two-nine."

20. "Coming home from a month away, empty cabinets and bed."

Exactly right! Of course, since I'm a philistine, the David Bowie song was actually the Nirvana cover, but what can you do?
