I found my mind in a brown paper bag...

Often when I'm bored, I'll browse netflix for movies I'd like to see or see again. There have been quite a few times I've looked up a movie only to be told it was either unavailable or I could save it. Today, I was on a Jon Cryer kick (don't ask), so I thought, 'hey, I'll order Dudes (1987)." I absolutely could not find it by either title, actors involved or even under the director of Dudes. WTF? has this ever happened to you?

"Dudes" has never been released on DVD, which is why NetFlix doesn't have it.

Most movie I look for I find there, provided it's out on DVD. There are a few obscure titles or OOP's they don't have, but all and all they have about 95% of the stuff I'm looking for, and a few gem I didn't know about.

Three movies I have discovered that Netflix doesn't have:

Nekromantik
Junk
Phenomena

Probably OOP.

I'm lucky to own nekromantic, der todes king, and nekromantic 2 (although on VHS). I too have been wanting to see Junk.

I've found lots of stuff on netflix that hasn't been released on DVD, i simply put it in my save bin until it later becomes available if ever released. My point was, this film has not even been acknowledged. It was wierd.

There's a few I can't find on there, Surf II is one I can't find a trace of. There are more but I can't remember any right now, I think maybe a couple of Cronenberg or David Lynch movies.

M. Butterfly is one. .

Yea you can but it in your saved movies, I have a few there myself. Most of the ones I have there are OOP and selling for so much on eBay that if you could get it from NetFlix a lot of folks would keep it and pay the $20 for it.

Case in point ...
"The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover" is OOP it's about $75 used on Amazon, but NetFlix does list it they just don't have it ... I'll sell them my copy for $100. LOL

Most of the stuff I've found they don't have is foreign cinema, and few US titles.

Don't know about "Dudes" dude, drop them a line see what answer you get.

I know what you mean; i ran into this problem with the Night Porter (best romance movie ever). Fortunately Netflix does have it now, but it is way overpriced on Amazon.

You can get the Criterion edition on Amazon for $16 (used), high but not crazy high. I got mine in a 100+ movie box lot on eBay, seller took picture of the titles and didn't list them so none of the movies would turn up in a search. Had so really good titles in too, I got them for less than $2 each.

I was emptying out my Blockbuster queue recently in an attempt to drop the service and save $13 a month, but found that there were 30 or so movies on there that NetFlix doesn't carry. As such, it looks like I'll be with Blockbuster for a little while longer... Lookingup
