Lagomorphs: menace or underutilized resource?

« on: August 10, 2008, 08:23:01 AM »

Freakazoid! finally came out on DVD (the first season, anyway), and I got my copy a couple of days ago. I was a bit worried that it wouldn't hold up as well as I wanted it to, but no worries: It's still really fun. I haven't watched all the episodes yet, but the ones I've seen have reminded me of why I absolutely loved this show when it was aired: Candle Jack, Lord Bravery, Cosgrove, Toby Danger, "Dash" O'Pepper....fun stuff. My daughter didn't quite know what to think about it since the show is quite different from what she's used to (how many cartoon superheroes (in this case, Lord Bravery) shout things at their mothers-in-law (voiced to sound like Anne Ramsey) like "Other people your age are dropping dead! Why don't you?!?"), but she sat through several episodes and seemed to enjoy them. Hopefully, I'll get to watch the rest of the episodes in the set next week. I can hardly wait for season two to come out so I can have the full series.

Freakazoid, Wakko and Brain duke it out over who Steven Spielberg likes better.

Freakazoid was an awesome show, and now that I know it's on dvd, I'm picking it up.  I also saw at the video store that Tiny Toon Adventures, Darkwing Duck, Animaniacs and Pinky and the Brain are out.  I spent my afternoons with them. Wink

Freakazoid was cool. Earthworm Jim was pretty good also.

I'm hoping Earthworm Jim makes some kind of a comeback, honestly.

I loved Freakazoid when it was on.  It along with Pinky and the Brain were two cartoons (outside the Simpsons) that were genuinely funny.  My favorite villian was Guterez especially when he creates the Freak-a-clone.

Completely off the wall-this was a great series.

At least, that's what Gary Busey told me...
