I found my mind in a brown paper bag...

WWW
« on: August 12, 2008, 06:28:23 AM »

Well, I'm moving! here in about two weeks I'll be headed to Florida. On the up news, my daughter is excited, she says we're going to become beach bunnies. On the down news, I am surrounded by a thousand cardboard boxes that will have to be filled. You never know how much useless junk you have till you start sorting and packing....
 Question
When I get down there, it may take me a week or two to get online so if i'm scarce, i'll be back.

Sounds fun!  My family has moved quite a few times too.  My favorite part is getting all the furniture arranged in the new place.  And then rearranging it, and rearranging it again  TeddyR

Good luck with the move. I know what a pain it is, we've done it four times in the last 25 years

Here's some moving karma for ya.  We are moving, too.

Funny you mention your daughter becoming a beach bunny.  My daughter LOVES the beach...absolutely loves it.  I keep saying she's going to be our little surfer beach bum girl.

Our move takes us from a 3 hour drive from the beach to less than 1 hour.  Actually, some beaches may be even closer than the one we've scoped out.

This move for us is a big 'downsizing.'  We will probably get rid of more stuff than we actually move.  We are seeking to simplify our lifestyle.

Good luck, and do try to check-in here when you get settled.

Good luck on your moves, Sis & Ulthar.

Hope you're not using Russian movers.  I lost $100s of dollars worth of movies that they "lost" in my last move.  It's a pain to do it yourself, but at least you get to keep all your stuff.

We just finished out latest, and what should be our last, big move (we've done them every 2-3 years).  There are still lots of boxes around the house, waiting for us to get things organized so that we can unpack some more boxes.  It was not so bad when it was just Katie and I, but with three children - trying to get moved is a huge hassle.  Three of us were working on getting the couch in the door, when suddenly Andy decides he wants to run under it - because, you know, that's a fun game.

Best of luck to the both of you.

When my family moved into our current house in 1999 the move wasn't so bad.  Most of it was clothes and some other things.  We got rid of the furniture and got new furniture for the house and had it completely remodeled with the exception of the basement(It was the house that my father grew up in).  The basement will probably be done in the future as we are soon going to have ceramic tile put in the kitchen.  Most likely the basement will be done in the future before I inherit the house after my parents pass away, or it will be done after I inherit the house.

When my dad sold his house (the one I grew up in), I went to get some old stuff from the loft attic to take back to my flat. I lost all my Thundercats toys from when I was a kid.  Bluesad

Yeah, I've been down here for about 2 1/2 years and I just can't seem to get used to it; you'd think I'd feel as if I was home by now instead of permanetly on a bad family vacation.

The move is really neccessary though. I'm going to be enrolling at F.I.T and I just can't turn it down. I won't really know anyone in Palm Bay. I had a good friend down there, but unfortunately he opted for the shotgun facelift a few years back.

Thanks to everyone for the well wishes...I'm gonna need them...   Smile
