Nothing to do with the horror (for all the wrong reasons) movies, the new Wii exclusive House of the Dead game "Overkill" will apparently be going for a retro-70s down & dirty grindhouse feel complete with "grainy film" look, excessive gore, intentionally cheesy dialog, and other staples of the genre. The first trailer is up at IGN and has possibly the best tagline for a video game in a very long time, "So Cool You Will Cry Blood From Your Own Eyes". As far as gameplay goes, it sounds like the same old "run and gun" arcade style, though Sega's introducing a new function that allows you to pistol whip the zombies and knock off their jaws or collapse their skulls. Pretty cool on paper, let's see what it plays like come '09. Check out the story and the trailer on IGN here. TeddyR

Sounds pretty sweet!  It's a pretty good way to inject life into the franchise.
