How far is Cedar Rapids from Des Moines?  I 'm probably going to be in Des Moines next June 6-10 for a conference and thought maybe we could meet up for a meal or something while I'm close.

Next June?  As in 2009?

Des Moines is about 2 hours away from Cedar Rapids.
C.R. is in east central Iowa while Des Moines is in lower central Iowa.

I'd love to hang out and grab a bite to eat but you'd have to come here.
My car I recently got is reliable, but I was instructed that it might be a bad idea to take it on long distance road trips.

No sweat, I may drive up there so I'll have my own car. I'll let you know when it's closer.

So you're talking about next year?
Or was that a typo?

You know Cap'n Trek that if you wait a couple weeks longer you and Ash can go to the annual Trek Fest which is held every June in Riverside, Iowa which is the future birthplace of Captain James T. Kirk.

I've always wanted to check out Trek Fest.   Smile
You'd think I'd have done it by now because Riverside is only about a half hour drive from my place.  It's near Iowa City.
The sad thing is that almost none of my friends or family are hardcore into Star Trek like I am and they never want to go.

I've heard it's pretty fun!   Thumbup

(I have been to Riverside and have seen that sign and the miniature Enterprise monument)
