My old monitor for my computer has been rather dark of late, making my hobby of video editing to be a bit of pain (can't tell if I need to brighten up the screens or if it's just MY computer.)  So, with my tax refund here I spent part of it to not only update my computer (the graphics card was starting to burn out and I decided to get more memory) but I also finally bought a brend new monitor that I'd been wanting to get since LAST tax seasons.

Anyway, I bought a ASUS widescreen monitor with... uhh.. shoot, don't have all the tech details on me... Oh wait, 2ms response time, 12000:1 contrast etc.  I don't even know fully what that means, but it sounds cool!

Only one thing though that really stands out in my mind... it is so freaking WIDE!!

I mean, this is just SURREAL!  It's like, bigger than my head, I gotta back this baby to see the whole picture.  Lot of the webpages I'm looking at have a slightly "stretched" look to them.  I might need to do some adjusting here and there, or maybe part of it just something you get used to after a bit.

One downside, the menu control are a bit idiotic.  They've got the buttons on the SIDE, the menu in the middle of five buttons, the botton above the menu is kind of like an "up" button (even though it has an arrow point to the right) bottom bellow the menu is the "down" button (and has an arrow pointing left).  Top button is like an "esc" button, second to the buttom a "select" button (I think anyway), and the third changes your input device.  I can put this baby on VGA. DVI, of HGMI (course, I only actually have ONE of those, but still.)

So, anyway, hope I don't sound too braggy it's just, I was mainly want to share the weird/awesomeness of widescreen monitors with everyone (curious if anyone else find it a bit off kilter at first.)

I remember when I went from my CRT to a widescreen LCD monitor - not only was everything stretched, but the thing looked concave - because my old screen was convex.  And the buttons on my monitor are stupid too.  I had them figured out once, but I've long since forgotten.  There are these tiny - tiny - labels for them, printed in dark gray over my black monitor.  Brilliant!

Anyhow, congrat's on your purchase!   TeddyR
