Hmm... no guesses yet?

Minor hint: that is a nurses' uniform she's wearing.

Well, I don't think I'm right, but was it that Call of Cthulhu movie from a few years back?

No, but it is fairly recent.  Official hint 1: It won "Best Crossover Genre Film" at the Rhode Island Horror Film Festival in 2004.

Freak Out (2004)?

No, but I can see why you'd say that--that's what the IMDB says.

I got the info about it winning the "Best Crossover Genre Film" from the boxcover, but IMDB lists a different winner (FREAK OUT), and the RIIFF site doesn't seem to track that particular award.

I'll add hint #2: it was featured in the TV special "Nightmare in Canada: Canadian Horror on Film".

Google returned exactly ONE hit (in a PDF press kit) when referencing the year and film festivals mentioned.  The movie referenced is GRAVEYARD ALIVE.

I've never heard of it.  Which is odd considering it has 12,300 hits when Googling the title.  If that turns out to be the movie it will be very ironic.

I think you're right. It's black and white and has a Nurse as a lead character.

Hint #1: This is one of three movies that have the same title.  One is a post-apocalyptic porno while the other two, though made a decade apart and in different countries, have virtually the same basic plot.

Good guess, alas not correct.  You're on the right track though.

Hint #2: This movie fits into a very specific "knock-off" sub-genre.

Another good guess.  Alas not correct.  Speaking of totally awesome. .

Hint #3: The original VHS release (U.S.) had a lenticular cover.

What is that?  Hmm.  Must adjust contrast.  In the meantime here's an English translation from a write-up for the movie on the German Amazon:

Quote
________ is a gelungener B Movie, that of all beitet what such films require in order to guarantee an entertaining Videoabend:  Mosnter, not entirely serious increasing story, beautiful women and a number decimating itself in the course by protagonists.  Admitted, is must be the film no hammer production in the Hollywood style, but sometimes so somewhat also if one fully has of the entire films with depth gear once again the snout and would like to experience simply only popcorn movie theater in the style of the 80.  The monster looks also not at all so badly how it is to be taken the prejudiced film criticism, and makes a quite creepy passable impression.  The beginning sequence shows then also from where the entire evil comes.  Result:  Story: well yes.  Entertainment value: in any case.

Don't you just love free translation tools?

So the deadly instincts of a killer alien creature something or the other did something to for something and whatever.

No new guesses?  Okay let's try something different.

Remember that hint about there being another movie with the same title and virtually identical plot?  Well here's a few screen caps from it. .

By kester_pelagius

Both movies have the exact same English language release title (but very distinctive and different German language titles).  Both movies fall within the same SF "knock-off" sub-genre.

Both movies have horrible dialogue and acting so bad you often don't know whether to cringe or laugh. Both movies involve women getting into slimy situations.

By kester_pelagius

While that's as rique a pic as I dare risk posting the movie gets far more gratuitous, even more so than the other movie does.  Women seem to strip out of their clothes for no apparent reason and then proceed to do the darndest things, like aerobicize. :hint:
