More a question than a nomination:  Does anyone know where to find the soundtrack to "Bar Fly", the Micky Rourke, Faye Dunnaway autobiographical film on Charles Bukowski?  That soundtrack had a wild mix of modern and old-fashioned standards, with jazz and Chuck E. Weiss thrown in for good measure.  Nobody I know seems to have this.

I've been hunting through various music and soundtrack sites, and as far as I can tell it's never been released on any format.  IMDB at least has a list of all the songs used in it:

62. Aguirre, the Wrath of God -- Mostly uses music by Popol Vuh and it's quite awesome:

I could pretty much go with any Werner Herzog flick, though.  He always finds brilliant ways to use music in his films.

From the excellent Signs of Life:

A lovely scene from Lessons of Darkness

63. 'Round Midnight

Assembled by Herbie Hancock.  Starring Dexter Gordon (who got an Oscar nomination).  Mostly original music, although done in the 1950s Paris expatriate style.  Sadly I couldn't find a youtube clip.  Here's a sample of Bobby McFerrin and Herbie performing the title track.

Okay I'm going to dare at #64 to insert one of my favorite film scores.  There isn't a minute of the sound of this film that I don't really like, or even love, but I don't like all the permutations of its cuts.
BLADE RUNNER, with a score by VANGELIS, is kind of one of my favorite films, but hardly perfect and I'm well aware of its many flaws.  When the film was new I saw it several times, and even brought a tape recorder into a movie theatre in order to tape the soundtrack and forgot about it and CLUNK it went (yes on those 1 hour tapes that were the hot new thing in the early '80s) that was embarrassing (but I got the tape flipped)  TeddyR  All that 'cause the soundtrack way back when was unreleased, hence not available, and in legal dispute; I remember I had even bought a kind of lousy ripoff orchestral recording LP that used the music composed by VANGELIS and tried to fill the gap, but VANGELIS was almost all electronic on that soundtrack, and had a tone that only his droning, melancholic and haunting recordings held.

Introduced reggae to the world.  (Except for the Jamaicans; they already knew about it).

Music Snobs can officially have sex with themselves to everything that Velvet Goldmine succeeds and fails to be. (Note=actor sings in video, better singer on record.)
