Alrighty fellow ghouls. This one one I think takes place in the burbs. The one scene I remember is a teen girl, think she is going through a metaphoric change for puberty, the only thing is, she is in a coccoon, stuck in the corner of her bedroom wall. I think, her little brother walks in and freaks out?

Alas the only cocoon scenes involving the metamorphosis of a young girl that pop to mind are those from SPECIES, V: the series, and XENA (which involved a evil Gabrielle clone ??).

My guess is "Meet the Applegates" which features giant South American mantises that move to suburbia, disguised as humans. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0100129/

This sounds like "Xtro" from 1983.
