Nature's kind of weird that way.  Averages tend to be composed of a whole lot of big numbers and a whole lot of small numbers, confounding people who think they should consist of a whole lot of average numbers.

On the other hand, we had a freakin' bazillion maple seeds all over the place this year.

I think the decline of acorns suggestively coincides with the recent epidemic of squirrel obesity we been hearing so much about. Hmmmmm....

maybe it is the other way around.
 maybe the squirrel king have collected all the nut for himself, and telling his minions that it was we who did it, filling them whit a endless anger so instead of enslaving humankind will they wipe us of the map.

Bingo!  And the squirrels around my folks' place in Newport News VA seem  to be in high corn when it comes to acorns.
