DR.STRANGE LOVE is most certainly a classic.

I would have to agree with Raffine on his choices of James Whale horror films of the 30's...perhaps the very first to mix horror and comedy effectivly. The INVISABLE MAN in particular.

Allso...

The EVIL DEAD series.
Many of AIP's films...witness BUCKET of BLOOD,the LITTLE SHOP of HORRORS, the RAVEN, DEATH RACE 2000, ALLIGATOR,and sooooooooooooooo many more!!!!
Dare I say it? Yes... I dare! the TEXAS CHANSAW MASSACRE-the first one....I busted out laffing in many parts...."LOOK WHAT YOUR BROTHER DID TO THE DOOR!!!"

The FEARLESS VAMPIRE KILLERS

RETURN of the LIVING DEAD

Oddly enough, I have seen people laff at parts of the DEVIL'S REJECTS!

I suppose it's all about how dark your sense of humor is.

Personally, mine is very dark. I laff at things that would make most people cry or hide.

I'll third Raffine and RC's mentions of James Whale's work. Also the AIP reference from RC. One not mentioned I really enjoyed a lot was The Comedy of Terrors.

I agree COMEDY OF TERRORS is very good, though it wouldn't make my top 5.  Price was astoundingly good (it's my favorite performance of his), but why was Karloff wasted?

DEATH RACE 2000

that one came to mind for me, too. problem is, it opens the door for a lot of other stuff that sort of dilutes the list, if you ask me. for example, if i was going to include death race 2000, then phantom of the paradise is right behind it.

I have two that starred Eliot Gould and Donald Sutherland. One is M*A*S*H, and the other is Little Murders. Wow! It's Ultra Dark! It's got Vincent Gardeina,  and is directed by Alan Arkin and the denouement leaves you feeling like you just stepped off a cliff.

The Ealing comedy "The Ladykillers" is a blck comedy that is actually hilarious. Even the death scenes are genuinely funny, especially the one at the end.
