I saw this movie between 1970-1974. and I have been searching for it ever since :)  I have posted this before with NO luck.

movie with recurring nightmare between .. ?1971-1974?

It has a recurring nightmare... in an old house or hotel.  In his dream there is a door way in the wall of his bed room.. a trial is taking place . After the third night of having this dream ;he open his the mouth to say something. Someone there in his dream slaps him .  He wakes up with his lip bleeding and the door is opened on his wall and there is an empty court room. ???

Now the doorway is not a door when he's awake (until he awakes at the end of the third dream)  It's a plaster design on his bedroom wall.

I think in the beginning of the move there is a woman running down a road with a red jump suite on at a four way stop many cars coming together ( no in a town or city... outside of a town)

it's not From Beyond the Grave" (1973).

Hey Ajax -

I'm working on it. Maybe some more info would be useful: You saw the film between 70-74.
Was it in a theatre?
Was it in the US or outside the states?
Was it filmed in English or dubbed?
Was it avant garde in anyway or a "genre" film (i.e. horror or science fiction)?

It was in a theatre in the U.S.
I don't remember if it was dubbed into English or English

I have no clue... but since I was a small child and my sister took me ; it may have not been a horror.

I haven't actually seen this, but your description sounds similar to an episode of the Twilight Zone called 'Shadow Play'.

OK, weird memory that hit me about this.  Was the guy maybe on death row or something?  At the end the twist is that he wakes up, and we find out he is still on death row - just some of the characters he interacted with have changed their parts.

I've got the title of the film I was thinking of, and seem to have crossed with "Lost Highway" or something:

Deadly Dream (1971)

I was a little off on some of the points (memory is a funny thing), but it could be the film you are remembering.
