I heard about this on the radio.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081217/ap_on_fe_st/odd_hitler_cake

From the article (quote from father);
Quote
"There's a new president and he says it's time for a change; well, then it's time for a change," the 35-year-old continued. "They need to accept a name. A name's a name. The kid isn't going to grow up and do what (Hitler) did."

WTF! So lets forget about WW2 and the a-hole that caused the death and destruction of countless souls.  I'm sorry, if you name your kid after Adolph Hitler you're just asking for problems.  Granted I don't feel a store should have the right to say what they can or can't put on a cake. But we all know there is no innocence to that name anymore and there is no way of bringing it back to a positive light.  I feel bad for the kid.  I really do.

That poor boy...

Still why deny the kid a decorated birthday cake? That's the sort of thing that creates genocidal monsters for sure.

I feel sorry for all of their kids.

The Campbells' other two children also have unusual names: JoyceLynn Aryan Nation Campbell turns 2 in a few months and Honszlynn Hinler Jeannie Campbell will be 1 in April.

The parents are simply divisive.

Quote
The Campbells ultimately got their cake decorated at a Wal-Mart in Pennsylvania, Deborah Campbell said. About 12 people attended the birthday party on Sunday, including several children who were of mixed race, according to Heath Campbell.

"If we're so racist, then why would I have them come into my home?" he asked.

Oh...I don't know; how about to look down on them or teach his children to look down on them.

The parents are just simply liars.

Could you imagine when the child is old enough to understand some things and asks what his name means?

What? The parents are going to tell him what an evil person his namesake was, so he can be proud of his name? I doubt that's the way the conversation would go.

Even at that, I agree with you all that, IMO...if it were my business, even if I strongly disagreed with their views, I would not have denied a 3 year old child a birthday cake (I may have suggested upon them picking up the cake to kindly keep their worthless racist asses out of my shop from here on).

I do not disagree with the shop having the right to say 'no'. Though that could be a discussion unto itself about equal opportunity for all, divisive racists will intentional play that card against a business to cause trouble; such as getting a cake for a 3 year old child named Adolf Hitler at a business owned by Jewish people. Though there was nothing to suggest such with the shop in the news story.

Quote
"I think people need to take their heads out of the cloud they've been in and start focusing on the future and not on the past," Heath Campbell said...

Heath Campbell needs to take his head out of his ass. He's the one focusing on the past.

Still...a 3 year old child should have a birthday cake.

It's amusing to me that Wal-mart stepped in and made the cake for them... It somehow feels right that they did that yet so, so wrong...

One of the heads of security for our department of arts and culture and a good friend of mine, is a gent with the surname Chauke: first name: Hitler.

Despite his name, he's one of the nicest people you can know.  Smile

I said this before the "silly celebrity kid names" thread we had here (Or was it on another board? Can't remember) but anyway, to me, giving your kid a dumbass name should be legal grounds for him pulling a Menedez on his parents when he/she/they get(s) older.

One report on this I saw made a good point: if dad is so anxious to make some kind of point by naming the kid 'Hitler' why doesn't the dad just change his own name to 'Hitler' and spare the kid the grief?

So does these mean I'll have trouble getting a cake for the young twins Benito Mussolini Cheezeflixz and Attila The Cheezeflixz?
