Ok, this movie seriously scarred my childhood.  I feared closets until I was a teenager.

From what I can remember, the movie was a short film, part of some kinda compilation.  The basic premise was a girl rents this room from an old man.  In the room was a small closet.  The girl eventually gets into it somehow (I think initially it was locked) and find a bunch of girls clothes hanging on hangers.  At some point the movie reveals there's a monster that comes from the closet, which ends up killing the girl.  At the end of the film, the creature is seen walking down the steps, up to the old man.  If my memory serves me... the creature was humanoid, short, with a gaunt, sunken in face.  The movie ends with the old man petting the creature's head. 

Anyone know this movie?

Sounds like the Episode of "Tales from the Darkside" called "Inside The Closet"

That's it!  OMG, I got glassy eyed and my spine tingled watching that again.  Still scary as hell!
