Funny thing is I've had alligator but I couldn't tell you what it tastes like. I've had alligator stew in Cajun places and all I could say is it was OK, made a perfectly good Cajun stew. Probably I was tasting the spices more than the alligator.

I'll eat almost anything on a pizza except seafood. I prefer either a serious deep dish style or a very thin crisp crust. Soggy crust will RUIN an otherwise good pizza.

Alligators are very close to the top of my list of animals I really really want to eat.  Unfortunately, I can't get it locally and I can't really afford to get it shipped to me.

Kangaroo is currently the pinnacle of that list, and the same issue applies.

I take it you are not in the US? It's about US$9.00 lbs online, but we have a fish monger that comes around every other week with fresh seafood and other not so common meats that you can't get in the store easily and he charges $5.00 lbs for it, which is cheap compared to some common meats.

I had Kangaroo in Australia years ago, I can't recall the favor.

Here you go ...

http://www.cajungrocer.com/fresh-foods-alligator-c-1_15_16.html

$8.47 a lbs ... check the shipping cost, it seems that 5lbs or more as the best shipping rate.

5 lbs of Gator meat is $61.29 shipped to my address. If you order from them I also HIGHLY recommend you get some BOUDIN (I can get that in stores here, it's freaking wonderful)

I've ordered from this place a time or two and as I recall had good luck with them. Over half our food is ordered online since I have such a weird waste ... try buying Zataar in Kentucky.

Anywho ... it's the shipping of frozen meat that will get you, so you might want to ask a local grocer/butcher if they can get it. They might have to order it but there should be no shipping on it. I order most frozen meat products in the winter time, as the shipping is less because that don't have to use cold packs, this cuts the shipping by 2/3 from some places It comes in frozen and I just pop it in the freezer until I'm ready to use it.

I highly recommend https://www.bavariasausage.com too, fantastic natural casing franks and brats ... if you've never had them you are missing out.
I severed them at a dinner party one time, people at first thought ... "what a cheap bastard serving hot dogs" ... then they tried them, then they went into a food orgasm. 3 years later I still have folks telling me about those franks being the best they've ever had.

Thanks Cheeze; sadly, I don't have access to freezer space at college.  I'll have to see about getting some for Spring Break or something.

Ah! College might I recommend Ramen Noodles and Mac and Cheese. That was my budget in college ... well actually mac and cheese was a luxury.

Ramen makes me violently ill...don't know why, but it does.  Most of what I eat at school is mac and cheese and Dinty Moore microwavable beef stew.

I used to eat Ramen noodles all the time up until a couple of years ago when I had a blood pressure scare and had to change my diet. Turns out I've become sodium sensitive and Ramen  is extremely high in it.  I used to mix it with almost anything.  Ramen mixed with Tomato Soup is really cool.

Are the noodles themself high in sodium or is it mostly in the powered flavoring that usually comes with them?

I keep several packs of the noodles at work for a quick snack with frozen vegtables, shrimp, and various low-sodium soups and Asian sauces. But I always throw those packets of flavoring in the garbage, viewing them as evil little heart attacks in a foil package.

Actually, I think that it was more the flavoring packets than the noodles themselves.
