Is a deliberately made B film count as a B film, like the following :

Tremors
Slither
Dusk till dawn
Dracula 1972 AD...I'm gonna watch this later
Mars Attacks!

I'm just not sure if it counts or not ?

I think so. Some people try to make b-films just like some are fully conscious of making b-films due to budget constraints and such.

For the latest on the fifth installment in Don Coscarelli's Phantasm saga.

Psycho Circus

Mmm.....interesting.

1) It's a horror/comedy influenced by 50's -early 60's horror/sci-fi movies

2) It's pretty naff and badly acted, made as cheap popcorn entertainment

3) It has this poster:

But there's the big small matter of an estimated $30million budget.  :buggedout:

So, yes. In a word.

I need to get this post moved to the bad movies board.

Unless I'm wrong, "B" movies are low budget films... which is where the "B" comes from.

8 legged freaks was built and design as a summer blockbuster, I also think it was successful too.

You are quite right Skull, but unfortunately it comes back to that whole "define the term B-movie" thread thingy we had a while back. It's all very tricky to box or umbrella, shall we say

I reviewed it in the reader review section and I think it is pretty much a B movie disguised as a big budget production.  As Circus_Circus mentioned, it does have all of those things featured in the movie that makes it come off as a B movie.  I also believe it is more of a 50s movie with color and CGI added in.  In other words, this movie has the feel and looks of a B movie, kind of like Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

We live in quite an interesting age. You can tell someone's sexual orientation and level of education from just their interests.

Does this mean Snakes on a Plane is a B movie ?

Flight of the Living Dead Outbreak on a Plane is definitely one.

Now that is a great film.

B-movies are low budget films, but that's not exactly where the "B" comes from.  Originally the term came from double-features in the olden days.  There would be an "A" movie with a big-budget and big stars, and it would be paired with a low-budget movie in the bottom half of the double bill--the "B" picture.

I actually saw Eight Legged Freaks in a theater with some friends. We all had a blast.  It reminded me of Tremors in terms of tone for the most part.

And yes, I do feel that it qualifies as B movie.
