Not that weird of a story, I just liked the "pelted with bloody chunks of whale meat and blubber" part.

BTW, why is it that when these things happen, it just seems like the Japaneese who are interviewed are overly dramatic? "Unforgivable"? I think that quite a reach considering what is going on.

When I read the title, I honestly expected to see where someone decided it was a good idea to blow up a whale carcass again. Remember reading a story a few years ago where someone decided to blow one up and parts went flying everywhere.

Man that video never ever gets old.   It does make you wonder, this being a bad film venue... Just what do you do with a dead kaiju?

There used to be a website for the exploding whale story.  There was an entry in the comments section from someone who was there when the whale was blown up and he remembere the reaction from the guy whose car was destroyed when a 500 lb  chunk of blubber landed on it.   "What am I going to tell my insurance agent?"

Oregon Learns... No more exploding whales.

Old whale removal technique: Stuff full of dynamite, blow to smithereens.

New whale removal technique: Dig whale-sized hole. Roll whale down beach. Push whale into hole.
