Riki-oh: Story of Riki

took us almost 7 weeks to get from Asia somewhere, and we paid $44 for it, and then watched it on my friends LCD projector hooked up to his region free DVD player in his laptop...totally worth it, but none of us can watch it these days due to him moving across the country. Great movie and I still have yet to find it for a "moderate" price (i.e. $20 or less)

Anybody and everybody looking for rare movies without paying outrageous prices for used VHS tapes, I have a disgustingly extensive collection of over 1000 VHS, DVDs, VCDs, LaserDiscs, etc. available for sale on DVD-Rs for recession rates. Just send me a PM with what title(s) you're looking for and I'll get back to anyone and everyone with availability.

I'm hoping Andrew doesn't take offense to this post. I'm not bootlegging new releases or stuff videotaped out of a guy's coat in the theater, just trying to help get fellow BMOF members in touch with their favorite OOP flicks with a small gratuity for my time and materials. I figure as long as I only offer out-of-print stuff it's win-win, right? Smile

That depends.

What were your sources?

Video quality differs greatly between SP mode prerecords produced before the mid-80s to those made after as does the quality of LP/EP/QEP/SLP recordings.

Were any of your VHS source tapes recordings made off air/cable/sat TV?  If so on what equipment were they recorded?  What type of media?  Coax gives poorer quality signal than something recorded via an S-Video cable yet, if the recording machine was mono or a cheap no-name brand it may not matter.  Which brings us to. .

What was the equipment used to do the transfers?  How were these DVDRs authored? Do they come with artwork in amaray cases or just plain white sleeves?  Can I get some sprinkles on my chocolate ice cream?  And what's up with UFOs?  Are they real or what dude?

Well KP, it's a mixed bag. Most of what I have that's OOP is either taken from a commercially pressed VHS (so quality there really varies from the quality of the manufacturers, prints the tapes were made from, etc.), a 2nd gen VHS copy (I did a lot of "rent, copy, return" in high school), a DVD-R picked up from various sources (quality also varies from "3rd gen VHS transfer crap" to "VHS transferred to PC and digitally manipulated"), or straight from foreign release commercial DVDs (see VHS description above).

For whatever commercial VHS copies I transfer myself, I use a mono-audio output VCR via the AV cables, though I'm currently looking into seeing if my mother-in-law will sell me her S-Video capable VCR. I record these to a Panasonic DVD writer in SP mode. Discs are mailed in plain white paper sleeves with no cost for shipping. I also have DVD cases and I can print up sleeve and disc art, but those cost extra (disc labels and printer ink ain't cheap). So, all in all, the quality varies from movie to movie. Any copies of Joe Spinell's The Undertaker I make will look like sh!t, but copies of Phantasm II are top notch.

As for sprinkles, they too cost extra, but like the frogurt they are also cursed so I wouldn't recommend them... And UFOs? I'd say wait until 2017 for your answer, but since the world ends in 2012 anyway, it doesn't really matter.  TongueOut

Psst: Do you have any sleazy euro porn?  Wink

Yes, but if anybody named "Joe Valentine" asks, you never heard of me. Looking for the German ET porn, right? Wink

Doesn't that make the VHS tapes hard to play?   Twirling

Foreign?  You have any of the Caligula, Messalina, Nerone et Poppea, Katrina the Naked Czarina, or Rasputin (Sandra Nova) movies?

For whatever commercial VHS copies I transfer myself, I use a mono-audio output VCR via the AV cables, though I'm currently looking into seeing if my mother-in-law will sell me her S-Video capable VCR.

If it has an S-video jack then most definitely the way to go.  You'll see a significant improvement in picture quality over what a RCA hookup provides.  Plus, it'll probably be in stereo.  I don't think they made any S-VHS decks in mono.  Not that there's anything wrong with mono.  People live with mono all the time.   Wink

Yep, the infamous ET porno The Extra-Terrestrian. I think it was made in Germany and the copy I have is subbed in Portuguese. A friend was supposed to translate it for me so I could throw together some English subtitles, but then he had to go and spoil it all by doing something stupid like getting a job... Speaking of German porn, I also have a Supergirl parody porno that I'm pretty sure is called Supergirl: Tits of Steel.

As for dinosaur porn, other than the creepy internet video a friend sent to me about a woman being fingercuffed by a pair of men in nightmarish bug-eyed pterodactyl costumes, my experience with dino porn is pretty much nill. I'll see who can find what for me though! Cheers

I'm not sure of the title but once, when looking for information on the German TV series Space Patrol Orion (?), I stumbled on a DVD for something called Ficksternraumpstein (?), which seemed to be a porno SF parody.  Ah, those wacky Germans!

I stumbled on a page with clips for something like that once when looking for info on PLANET OF THE DINOSAURS!  I was like. .  Buggedout  Question

I'll bet it was a German porno too. LOL.

You really don't have to look to the Germans for SF pornos, there is an entire series of pornos called Sex Trek which is a parody of Star Trek made in the US. Also Cinamax has a softcore porn SF series it airs late at night. It's really bad. Think the episode I happen to see was about a guy who had an android replica of his wife made after she supposedly died in an accident or something. Only the android was sluttier. (Hey when it comes to Cinamax Softcore Porn, everyone in it is a slut to some degree.)

Talk about forbidden science!

Actually it's kind of funny that Star Trek (Sex Trek), Star Wars (Sex Wars), and Flash Gordon (Flesh Gordon) have all gotten at least one "porno" flick parodying them yet, AFAIK, no one's filmed an porn parody for Buck Rogers.  I wonder why that is?

I think it's cause they haven't been able to get a vibrator to go "Twiggy! Twiggy! Twiggy!" without everyone on the set bursting out laughing.

I've seen it on Ebay for under $20 and also Amazon has it new for $21 and used for about $15.

I have SNOWBEAST (1977) on a double featue dvd with  STANLEY . It's on of those cheapie Dollar Store video things.
Me too, except mine is one of those multi-packs I picked up used from Amazon - something like 20 movies for $11 including shipping...  Smile

Speak of the devil, NOTC comes to official DVD this October! Promising to be "packed with extras", it seems likely that at least one of those will be the alternate ending.
