Do you, or anyone you know, constantly forward these chain e-mails to people?  You know, like "Read this uplifting paragraph and then send it to ten other people" crap?  Good grief.  A friend of mine is hitting me with this stuff like 5 times a week.  Yesterday I found out I was not only a very pretty girl, but one of the ten prettiest girls in the world.  And don't forget to be concerned about cancer!  Look, each type of cancer has it's own colored ribbon!

I'm constantly being instructed to take some time, sniff the flowers, watch the sunset, etc.  There was somebody who died once and everyone wished they'd been nicer to this person, so remember to be nice to everybody!

I just can't comprehend why people forward this stuff.

There is one guy, a friend and former business associate, who has asked me why I don't keep in touch. I've thought about asking why none of the many emails I get from him are an actual message for me, rather than inspirational stories and things that make you think. Want to keep in touch? Write me a real letter.

That seems to be universal with the e-mail forwarding crowd.  I used to play golf with a guy, he moved to Florida.  He was always sending me forwarded jokes.  I'd send him actual emails, telling him what I'd been doing and asking him what he was up to.  Never a response.  Same with this girl that's always sending me inspirational messages.  I'll write a few sentences to her, would only take a minute to respond, nothing.  Yet plenty of time to forward all these prayers and inspirational stuff and blah blah blah.

Don't feel alone I think everyone gets this crap from people that have time to forward crap and don't have time to say "Hey what's up? give me a call at 555-1234" Then they reply with some stupid chain massage.

I one point some time ago if I got to many of them from the same person, I'd sign them up with every porn/junk mail website I could find and flood their inbox with crap. This was in the days before spam filters.

Cheeze, one of the best ways of getting at someone like that is to use their address to sign web guestbooks. That's how I harvested Nigerian scam letters back in my scambaiting days. Leaving a "nice site" entry along with an email address on 10 guestbooks got me 30 Nigerian scams a day to that email address after a month or so. Apparently the Scammers have a way of harvesting email addresses from guestbooks.
