I'm going insane!  About a girl (late teens, early 20's) who gets bone cancer and has to have her leg amputated.

All I remember about it was that when the girl showed her boyfriend her amputated leg for the first time, "Dust in the Wind" was playing in the background.

Does anyone remember this?

Thanks!!!!

I do not have a title for you, but Suzan Ball, cousin of Lucille Ball, died at the age of 21 from cancer.  She had a leg amputated to try to stop its spread around the age of 18-20.  Perhaps the movie you are seeking was based on her story, and was a TV movie.  If it was a TV movie, that could explain your frustration.  Those can be more difficult to track down.

Thanks for replying.  However, she died in the 50's and this movie was set in the 70's.  Usually those made for tv movies only air once or twice, but I've seen it a few times on tv in the span of 30 years.   Cheers

I keep wanting to say that Robbie Benson was in it, but I think I'm just thinking about that "type" of cheesy Ice Castles movie.

Just a semi-educated guess, but how about "Long Journey Back"? I haven't watched it, but I seem to remember seeing the promos for it back then. No soundtrack listing for it on IMDb, so no clue if "Dust in the Wind" is in it, but it's in the right time frame for that to have been used.

Sounds like "Promises in the Dark."
