Youtube is definately cracking down on banning video and audio from video. I'm really frustrated that most of my videos have been removed because youtube banned them due to copyright infringements on the songs used.

Which I had to scratch my head. Because I did a search one one of the songs "What's new p***ycat" by Tom Jones and found a TON of other people using the same song freely. So why are MY video's being targeted? I know they aren't getting written permission.

I always preferred vimeo to youtube although vimeo is more about artistic creation than just uploading everything. Even photobucket will purge my video if it detects a song.

The whole thing is getting ridiculous.

i'm really annoyed because I like to piece together video clips that I make and find just the right song. Sometimes I just want friends or family to see it but it's damn near impossible to find a free video hosting site without major limitations or restrictions.

VH1 has a lot of video online which can be ripped.

Youtube has been sucking here in the last few money, they'll rip the audio and leave the video WTF over?

I don't think I'd every do to it if it wasn't for Chad Vader.

It seems like every time I find the clip I'm looking for they've got embedding disabled.

Another big thing that irritates me is when I think I've found what I'm looking for only to find that some idiot has added his favorite crappy music to the clip.  Or they've butchered it on their editing suite.  Hatred

When a site like youtube gets too big, major crack downs happen.  I used to love the stuff you can find on there but if they keep cracking down, the only thing left will be idiot, unfunny homemade videos only one or two people find amusing in the universe.

Two things are behind why Youtube has gotten where they pull everything.
First is groups like studios and the RIAA. They are so out for money that they long ago forgot their fans. So anytime they see something that uses anything they considered theirs, they go after it, usually with lawyers.
Youtube is terrified (and with good reason) of being sued. Look at what happen with Napster a few years ago. They got sued big time by the RIAA and pretty much lost their shirts. The site still exist but I seriously doubt the same people own it like they did back when it was a p2p file share network.

I'm real sick of the banner ads and the stupid captions all over the place.  Yes, you can have six captions simultaneously - isn't that cool?!?

It's a shame cos Youtube, along with Google (who apparently object to the term google being used as a verb), were pretty much The Internet for many people.

Yeh, YouTube has gotten clogged with crap, a lot of disabled embedding, clips pulled, or butchered by the users.  Still, not being a real user, I poke around 10-15 minutes most days and sometimes find worthwhile bits.

I've been there before.  One day I put this AMV using a Coldplay song.  Previously checked to see if there were others who were using the same song, which they were.  After less than 10 hours, the video was removed and I was kicked out (I'm using my backup account now so ha ha to them).  I checked again recently, the same videos that are using the same song haven't been removed!!  Why do I feel like YouTube has a target on my back?

I dunno, while I find the pulled music stuff obnoxious, they do it basically as part of their deal with Warner Music and other big groups.  Frankly, I really don't see how stuff like the music video I made set to Another One Bites the Dust harms sales of Queen albums/MP3s (quite the opposite, I'd think), but whatever.

Still, it's hardly the death of youtube.  There's a lot of awesome stuff on there, and there always will be.  Problem is too many people are too willing to make videos public that really shouldn't be.  It's been like that since the beginning, and with camcorders now having built in features to "upload straight to youtube!" it'll only get worse.

I also really wish they had a way to simply disable annotations.  They're very annoying and almost always useless.

On a side note, if you don't know how to do basic edits to at least chop down a videos length - DON'T UPLOAD IT.

I hear ya, Susan.  I've had a couple of my videos pulled due to supposed copyright infringement, not sure if it was for the music or the video clips I was using, but it just sucks to spend hours working on something out dedication and love for the movie/song they represent just to have youtube say, "Sorry, you can't post!"

Let's see, they pulled my:

Braveheart/"Wander My Friends" video (think this was due to the Braveheart footage, cause other videos using that movie have been pulled as well.)

and my Equilibrium/"Hand That Feeds" video.

(sigh)

Wonder how long it'll be before my other two videos with music get pulled...
