disintigrating fingers

A memory of this movie struck me this morning as I was lying, half-awake, in bed. It had me fully awake immediately, thinking about this eerie movie scene.

A man is in a bathroom, looking at himself in a mirror. Then he looks down at his hand, and begins picking at his fingernails. He begins pulling them completely off, but there's no blood, just beige/brown particulate underneath them, like his hands are disintigrating.

The timeline here would be no later than 1994: I was pretty young.

So, any help?

um sounds like the remake of The Fly, i know at one point the guys starts taking off his fingernails.
