"Rosebud...."

However, as Jack is probably right in describing such people as socially not acceptable, they would maybe not appreciate a homage to a classic movie. Something more direct and, yes, offensive would have to do.

I'm generally not the talking type so I can't imagine I'd say anything profound.  Profane maybe, but certainly not eloquent or particularly memorable.

I must say however as last words go, I'm pretty fond of Australian folk hero Ned Kelly's last words before he was strung up and hung for being a good for nothing Bushranger:

His last words were 'Such Is Life'.

I'd use Chuck Norris' great line from The Hitman (1991):

"I'm not afraid to die. Are you?"

The rest of that scene is also quite funny.

Iranian thug: [after being asked that question] "No. Allah protects us."
Chuck Norris: [grins] "Then this shouldn't hurt." [slams thug's head into the table]

You mean after I stop screaming, because I'm sensitive to pain. "Get that leaf off of my toe!"

Oh, probably something like: "Ah, s@@@!" or "F### you!" or something similiar. But, that didn't sound right, so . . .

I took a look at some of my favorite fictional characters from TV and films and saw what they had to say, but . . .

1 was unexpected.
1 was expected, but too quick.
1 was unseen.
1 was underwater, so we never heard what he said.
1 was paralyzed by a bite to his nether regions, so he couldn't speak
1 was in so much pain, he was gasping, so he couldn't speak
And somehow: "They unhooked your lifeline!" doesn't cut it, so . . .

I took at some of the best (IMHO) words ever written by fiction writers on the subject of death.

"No man can die twice--and no man can avoid dying once."

"Dying isn't something to be afraid of. The world and our experiences in it are not so precious, that we should be afraid to die."

All in all, as the barbarian said: "It's a good day to die!"

"Fight well." He said to him, and from the tone, he understood the further implications: "Die well."

"Next time, listen to old soldiers' stories." she said, victoriously. "Never give up. Never give up, till you're dead. Never give up and die. Don't go peacefully. Make 'em come and get ya!"

"I'm done being scared," he said.

Or, if that is too fictional for you then seek out "Dictionary of Last Words" by Edward S, LeGoen or "Famous Last Words" by Barnaby Conrad, but as those are most likely o.p. and hard to find, you might see "Brewer's Dictionary of Phrase and Fable," which has a shorter list of such.

Some are humourous. Some are pensive. And some are thoughtful, but they are all from people who had everything they ever wanted in the past and could have everything they wanted in the future, but were willing to trade all for a chance at a better life in the hereafter.
