giant monster..man eaten in half..old movie..???help???

im looking for a film where there is a giant squid in some giant tank aboard a space ship or some thing not really sure and these people send in a man in to the tank in a full on diving suit thing and they pull him out a few seconds later and he has been bitten in half from the waist down any ideas people? thanks. possibly could be deepstar six i looked it up on youtube but to me i remember the tank the man went into being a lot bigger any ideas?
