We're all just victims of circumstance

Before the internet, there was Starlog (and various other fan mags).  I loved Starlog, back in the 70's it was one of those mags with the shiny cover, but inside it was plain black and white new print.  It's where you went to get the scoop on the upcoming SciFi movies.

Honestly, I'm surprised any low-circulation magazines survive in today's world.  The Internet pretty much makes them obsolete, which is a real shame.  It's nice to have something to hold in your hands and that's more portable than a laptop every now and then.

There are still a few of the genre mags around but the number gets smaller every year.

I was very pleasantly surprised to spot FILMFAX at a Border's recently. I hadn't seen that magazine around in years and had figured it had gone bust long ago. I was very glad to see they were still alive and well. They actually had the latest two issues of FILMFAX , so I bought 'em both.  Thumbup

That is too bad...I recall back in 1976 0r so...I bought the very first ish while on my weekly comic/mag run (by bicycle) into town. It had Spock and Kirk on the cover,as a matter of fact. That's when mags were about a buck, comics about a quarter or 30 cents...and bubble gum cards still had that hard flat piece of gum inside. Are the cancelling their sister publication FANGORIA too?

I've been reading Starlog since the very early 80's. I've subscribed since the mid 80's. I still have every issue.

This SUCKS.

The FDA has been looking for a generic name for Viagra. After careful consideration by a team of government experts, it recently announced that it has settled on the generic name of Mycoxafloppin. Also considered were Mycoxafailin, Mydixadrupin, Mydixarizin, Dixafix, and of course, Ibepokin.

The SciFiWire article said according to their sources Fangoria would remain in print even though they do have a strong internet presence.

Another magazine I have a lot of issues from is Cinemafantastique.   They always had great coverage of the Star Trek Series  and movies.  Haven't seen one in a while and the last one I did see was quite a bit thinner and the format had changed.

I'll have to see what they have on the web about it .

If you meant Cinefantastique they stopped publishing in 2006 and became online only in 2007

Thanks Tars, I found it yesterday and was glad to see that you can still order back issues of the print edition.
