A good bad movie is like popcorn for the soul!

HEART OF DARKNESS meets LORD OF THE FLIES in this grim, depressing account of two British parents seeking their son, lost in the Indonesian Tsunamai months before, in a hellish series of semi-deserted villages along the Thailand/Burma coast.

Janet Behlmer (Emanuelle Beart) is attending a charity event with her husband and watching a film of tsunamai-devastated villages in Burma populated by feral children when she catches a glimpse of a child in the video that she becomes convinced is her son, missing since the dreadful wave swept him away a year before.  Because of the repressive, corrupt Burmese government, the only way to that section of the coast is to hitch a ride with Triad gangsters, who are smuggling heroin and girls out of the region . . .

Man, this is one dark film.  The jungle kids are downright scary, and the scenes of devastation and desertion are eerie and pathetic at the same time.  Beart is brilliant as a grieving mother teetering on the edge of sanity, and her husband Paul (Rufus Sewell) is torn between concern over their increasingly dangerous position, longing for his wife, and grief for his lost son.  This is a brilliant film with a bizarre ending . . . not particularly uplifting, but it will give you pause.

Indy says check it out!

I ALMOST rented this one tonight, but I passed on it for the "Oscar Ready" The Day the Earth Stood Still, I'll have to add it to the watch list.

Good . . .  I was beginning to think this movie only existed in my local HASTINGS store.

Earth is visited by a GIANT ANTIMATTER SPACE BUZZARD! Gawk at the amazingly bad bird puppet, or chuckle over the silly dialog. This is one of the greatest b-movies ever made.
