I don't remember much about this movie, other than it reminded me of The Thing, minus any monsters. I believe the people are on antartica, and there were two different factions involved. There ended up being some gun fights. Sorry I don't have more to go off of.

World War III was the first thing that popped into my head as well.  Did they have a bunch of pipes they were crawling into and shooting from?  US vs. Russia?  It was a pretty good movie IMO.

Yep. I haven't seen it since it originally aired I remember it being very well done.

Yep. I haven't seen it since it originally aired I remember it being very well done.

Yes, it's at the end of the miniseries, when the soldiers from the Alaskan National Guard are trying to hold off the Russian paratroopers at the pumping station by holding up in some empty oil pipeline pipes. Even if this isn't what the first poster is looking for, I'd recommend watching it. (IMHO) it's one of the best TV miniseries I've ever seen, and it has some great--for TV--action sequences in it, including the previous mentioned scene.
