I'm not sure if this is happening to anyone else here but it seems to happen to me almost every time I post a new topic.
It's kind of difficult to explain but here goes...

When I post a new topic and reach the bottom of the post box, the last sentence disappears beneath the bottom of the box.
I'll scroll down a bit and see that it's there.  As long as I don't type anything, the last sentence stays there on the screen.
The second I type a single additional letter in the final sentence, it jumps back down below the box again.
It's only the last sentence and that's it.
If I want to see it, I have to scroll down again.
Notice in the picture below where I wrote, "IT HAPPENS HERE" and drew an arrow.  If I try to add anything else after those words, they disappear below the bottom of the box.

On every new post I write, when I get to the last sentence, I'm forced to type it without being able to see it.  Then I scroll down to make sure it's written properly.
Essentially, it's scrolling the page up slightly anytime I reach the end of the post and try to type additional words.

I almost need to make a video to show you what I mean.
It only happens here on this forum and only recently started doing it.
Matter of fact, it's doing it now as I type this.   Hatred

Anyone else having this problem?

That is strange, and I haven't seen this happen.  I tried creating a long post in both Firefox and IE, but neither did what you are seeing.  Perhaps updating your version of Sun Java might help?  You can find the latest version on their site:

http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp

(You probably want "Java SE Runtime Environment")

Also, you will need to use the "Add Remove Programs" to get rid of your old version of Java - it doesn't go away when you install a new one.

The latest version is Java 6 Update 13 and that's the one I currently have.
Still not sure what's causing it.
I'll try to make a short video and post it so you can see exactly what's happening.

Well, nuts!  Has anyone else seen this sort of behavior?  Perhaps a browser plug-in is causing it?

Andrew,

Here is a short video I recorded.
At the very least, it will show you the problem.
Be sure to look at the sentence and the blinking cursor at the bottom of the screen on the video.

I do not have any browser plugins installed except for the Yahoo! toolbar and I've never had any issues with it.  (it's been installed on my pc for years)  I'm pretty vigilant when it comes to things like plugins and malware, so I'm sure that isn't the root cause.

Probably not related, but I have experience a similar jumping cursor problem inside a form recently.  Not on this site, and the cursor jumps to the top of the page, not the bottom, but it is something similar.

The problem happens only inside one specific type of form in Wordpress; all other forms work fine.

This has only happened in IE 8; it never happened in IE 7 or firefox.

My text appears to jumping all over the place also. The cursor keeps getting ahead of itself and it freezes for a second, leaving two words have spelt and jumbled together.

I don't know if this is related but every once in a while when I go to click on a smiley rather than appearing where I am in the text it jumps up into the main body of my text, usually wiping out a good sentence worth of text.  I can usually hit CTRL-Z and undo this, so long as I haven't typed anything new.

Then again I've always experienced oddness with this board's editor.  Sometimes backspace and delete wont work, especially if you use the arrow keys to move around your text to do spot edits.  Not now.  Right now everything looks to be working fine.   Smile  (Even the smiley.)

Browsers and versions, gentlemen?  Laptops or desktops?

I spoke too soon -- I've now experienced the jumping cursor problem here (still jumping to the top, not the bottom like Ash), but only in IE 8.  Also, it only happens when the text becomes too big to fit in the box and the scroll bar engages.

Search online for "jumping cursor problem" and you'll find lots of people suggesting that the problem comes from the mouse.  They say to got to your mouse driver software, unclick the option that says  "hide cursor while typing" and try it again.  I'll test it out.

Scroll bar appears here.

Seems to be working now here.  Checking wordpress...

Seems to go longer without jumping, but still jumping.  Question

Conclusion: try changing that setting, maybe it will help.

It's doing it to me now too!  Just upgraded to IE 8.0 a few days ago, on my desktop.  But it waited a few days before the problem started.  Or maybe it was the first time since the "upgrade" that I posted something that wouldn't fit in the window all at once.
