No..not the TV show. Do you have any personal heros? Childhood ones...recent...don't matter.
Mine...and why....
LUGOSI,of course- Not just because he was a good actor...he lived a hard life even before he hit American soil...he fought typecasting,addiction,...yet kept on kicking...never said die. The man was a trooper. Never say die.
.CHARLES FORT-The Architect of the Investigation of the Unexplained.
.FORREST J. ACKERMAN-the Uber-fan.FJA made my childhood-through FAMOUS MONSTERS-bearable.

I got more...but I would like to hear your heros.

FJA meets DRACULA and FRANKENSTEIN!

Sam Sherman ( the producer for Al) was no stranger of FJA and Warren Mags...he was involved with SCREEN THRILLS ILLUSTRATED...a Jim WARREN mag.

I'm a big fan of Chicago columnist Mike Royko and the gang of journalists-turned-authors/screenwriters like Carl Hiaasen, Dave Barry, Ben Hecht and Tim Dorsey. Their writing is inspirational to me, as well as incredibly entertaining.

I also admire the many character actors who not only improved, somethimes MADE the movies they were in, but who managed to make a decent living doing something they loved, without being just another pretty face. Those folks always add something more than looks to a movie.

My hero was my late maternal grandfather. He tought me more about how to be a real man and a father than anyone else ever did. I hope I can be half as sucessful with my family as he was with his.

My dad - Pastor, WWII Veteran, and the Best father on earth!
The Red Baron - 26 years old, 80 confirmed kills, red triplane - what's not to love?
Audie Murphy - local 98 pound weakling goes off to war and wins every decoration for valor there is, then comes home and conquers Hollywood!
Harry Thompson - my neighbor for 14 years, WWII veteran and former POW, author of PATTON'S ILL-FATED RAID, and, at the age of 92, a first-time skydiver!
And Abraham Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt, because they were great men as well as great Presidents.
George Washington for turning down a crown.
John Lovitz for punching Andy Dick in the face.
