I missed most of the 80s tv, but wasn't there a show called "V" about an alien invasion.  And also the pretty awful (well no need to qualify that really) Buck Rogers with Gil Gerrard was 80s, wasn't it?

Buck Rogers was sort of late 70s. Disco survived 500 years and a nuclear war, as I recall. TeddyR

V was great. At least, the original miniseries was. Big TV event back when there were only so many channels to watch. The second miniseries was pretty good. The weekly series that followed didn't last long enough for me to have very many memories of it.

I don't know if V was particularly 80s in style, but it sure provided some talked-about moments, such as:
