Here's an interesting a bit of news I found out, some mom buys her teenage son a Nintendo DS from a Wal-Mart and finds out inside of it is just a bunch of rocks and a Chinese Newspaper.  What's worse about it is that someone previously bought the same box of rocks from the same Wal-Mart earlier and got refuned for it, unlike the mother who couldn't get refunded right away.  Either way, interesting news huh?

Speaking of Wal-Mart and video games, I'm sure you saw BTM's topic in about the PSP with pornographic pictures on it in Off Topic Discussion.  That PSP was also interestingly enough bought from a Wal-Mart (Not the same one mind you).  I wonder what's up with this company and its video game handhelds?

We live in quite an interesting age. You can tell someone's sexual orientation and level of education from just their interests.

This kind of crap actually happens more that you think. Best Buy was HORRIBLE about it happening, apparently employees would steal the contents and re-wrap it, all the while BB claiming they do not have the equipment to re-wrap items (which was proven to be an outright lie), in an attempt to get people to go back to the manufacturer. There's stories about customers buying an LCD monitor and finding out there was a piece of plywood with a brick taped to it inside. At the Comp-Usa in Anchorage, a friend of a friend bought a video card that actually contained a 4+ year old used video card, then when they finally agreed to replace it with the right item, they told him he wasn't allowed to open it in the store, and that opening the box at the store would violate the warranty. He got a hold of a manager who opened the box, and guess what, , no video card, everything else was there though. Years ago it was common to see brand new, never used video cards on Ebay, with no box, cables, or driver discs. Same thing happened alot with games when they first started using the 'CD Key' protection: an employee didn't have to physically steal anything, they just needed to open a box, write down the CD Key, and borrow a friend's disc to install the game. TONS of people were buying games and then not being able to use them on line due to the CD Key already being in use.

I wonder if some stores actually figure out the balance between employee theft and employee wages, since anything they can pawn off on the customer of the manufacturer doesn't cost them anything, and if you can pay a person like crap and save more than you lose in theft. . . .

I hate to admit it but I admire someone for being that ballsy to return it to the store like that.
