One day after the birth of my second son, I signed on to geocities to find out yahoo is completing doing away with geocities sites. Hence...my site will disappear by years end. I have enjoyed geocities services in the past 5 years because they've kept things simple. And for this to come one day after a major joyous moment in my life really sucks. Currently I'm backing up my reviews on CD which is actually proving to be not as difficult as I expected. However, let me say how much this has disappointed me.
So...the future of DarkSider's Realm is uncertain but certainly not closed. I'm currently weighing the web hosting options. Yahoo is offerring web hosting for a decent amount. I have forwarded them a question regarding if I can use their pagebuilder and transfer over my current content. However, let me say now is a HORRIBLE time for all this to happen. Most of my free time will be going towards my fatherly duties obviously so unfortunately my reviewing hobby will have to take a back burner until all this gets hashed out. And of course the summer time is coming up to which sees me busy with other hobbies.
So although my site will disappear for a bit, I'm hoping that I will get things running again someday. I unfortunately will have to drop my Xmas In July 2009 plans and the August video game roundtable (unless someone else wants to host it). However in the meantime, thanks to everyone who has enjoyed my site in the past. And of course I'll be hanging out here with you folks who I consider my extended family.
Whether it be a day or 10 years, I'll keep you updated.
