Why don't you have Racing as a choice? I liked fast and furious, but at times, it was all cgi :bluesad:

Carsploitation ?

Didn't think of it, and there aren't that many examples I can think of even now.  It is a subgenre but it's pretty small compared to horror/comedy, action, etc.

Well, I don't think REBEL WITHOUT A CAUSE is a "bad" movie... and though I might give you THE BLOB, I don't think INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS is bad, in fact think both versions are great...
I agree... when I selected the example films I went with stuff that defined the genre I was trying to describe rather than stuff that was necessarily "bad."
Instead of REBEL WITHOUT A CAUSE, think HIGH SCHOOL CONFIDENTIAL

You did a good job with the genres, in any case.

I did consider HIGH SCHOOL CONFIDENTIAL, but I didn't think people would be familiar with it.  I consider it a classic of the genre, but I don't hear it discussed much in these parts.

I chose the following 5:

1) Action
2) Animation
3) Giant animal/giant insect
4) Giant monsters
5) Sci-fi (general)

It's a tough choice, as I'm typing this I was thinking maybe I should change it to include Santo films but if I start doing that I'll be here all day. It's a pretty complete list and I've enjoyed films from every genre on it.

Reach for the heavens in hope for the future for all that we can be, not what we are. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr.

Swamp Thing

I wanted to make a similar thread to this (minus the poll) but I thought I would just post here considering there has already been some talk on the subject.

My favourite types of movies are B movies and studio movies with B plots. I'll try and list the genres I stick to most and list some examples:

01. Horror (General incl monster, ghost, vampire, werewolf etc)
02. Adventure (Conan-esque, sword and sandal type flicks)
03. Slashers (All kinds of slashers incl backwoods)
04. Psychological horror (Session 9, May)
05. Indiana Jones knock-offs (King Solomon's Mines, Romancing The Stone)
06. Action (80s/90s VHS-type movies. And new stuff like The Tournament, Death Race II)
07. Disaster (90s big budget mainly like Dante's Peak, Daylight)
08. Sci-Fi (Stuff like Hollow Man & Total Recall)
09. Ninja/Martial Arts (80s/90s VHS-type. Bloodsport etc. And new stuff like Ninja and Ninja Assassin)
10. Teen Sex Comedies (80s-now. Preferably direct-to-video VHS trash from the 80s and 90s)
11. Cannibal (only jungle cannibal movies, and not just the Italian ones)
12. Gang-related (Blood In Blood Out, Colors, This is England, Crows Zero I & II)
13. Hooligan-related (Green Street Hooligans, The Firm)
14. War-themed (The Marine II, Rambo)
15. Superhero (Punisher: War Zone, Dick Tracy, Give em Hell Malone)
Abby Arcane: Is there a Mrs. Swamp Thing?
Swamp Thing: No, I'm a bachelor.

I had:

Extreme/ Bad Taste - John Waters dose it for me every time

Zombi - When I say Zombi I mean Zombi. None of this running and jumping dead thing crap.

Sexploitation - Russ Meyer taught me the birds and the bee's (probably why I get no action)

Juvenile Delinquent - High School Caesar, The Violent Years, Hot Rod Girl, Love em'

Gore - H.G Lewis. Enough said.

Giant bugs, followed by bad robots & almost any drek alien films do it for me every time!!

I love anything with  giant monsters of any variety!!

Giant spiders are a particular favourite but i also have a fondness for giant killer bunnies!

And of course all the mental Godzilla, Gamera, Ultraman stuff is just brilliant!!!!

Food of the Gods(1976) i loved as a kid as well as Giant Spider Invasion (1975)

50's sci-fi is likely my speciality. Although I will pretty much like any kind of Bad Movie.

Man, this was hard, I love them all really. But I picked...

1. Animation- Most especially if anime counts; Fist of the North Star, Wizards, some of my all time favorites.
2. Giant Monsters- I grew up with Godzilla and the more of the others I see, the more I love my Kaiju brethren.
3. Horror Comedy- Evil Dead II made everyone realize that this was a match made in Heaven/Hell.
4. Space Operas- The good and the bad, From Star Wars/Star Trek to Battle Beyond the Stars/Dune (yes, even Space Mutiny...kinda)
5. Zombie- I know they're trendy as of late, but maybe there is a reason for that? Maybe they're just so awesome and scary to the point that they make even the crappiest movies a little better (House of the Dead...cough). They also go hand in hand with a lot of the preconcieved genres (Gore, Horror Comedy, Sci Fi, etc).
