Watched this on DVD the other night and loved it!   Thumbup

You can definitely tell it was directed by Raimi.  It has his trademark style all over it.
And what's with Raimi and nasty old women?  Seems like what scares him is disgusting, rotten old ladies.  They appear in almost all of his horror flicks.

Great film.  If you haven't seen it yet, go rent it.
3.5 stars out of 4.

Okay, so I bought the Director's Cut DVD and there is MAYBE 10 - 20 seconds of additional footage.  Has this "Director's Cut" thing gotten way out of hand or what?  Same thing with the movie TAKEN.  As far as I could tell, the unrated version of TAKEN had just a few seconds of additional footage.  This is ridiculous, I say!

I liked this film better when it was called Curse of the Demon AKA Night of the Demon TeddyR

That being said this was a very refreshing film in the wake of the mostly lame, gore for gore's sake excuses for horror that have been parading around in theaters this past decade. The classic Raimi style is all over this one, and parts of it were definitely scary. I guess I can understand some people not liking the humor aspects of it, but that is just Raimi's style when he tackles horror. Not many people can balance the two as well as he has without it becoming some sort of parody or spoof. Some of my confidence has been restored in him as a filmmaker especially after the debacle of Spider-man 3

I believe Taken just restored the small bits they had to cut to achieve an R rating.  When it's a hard PG-13 film, that's usually the case.  It is kind of lame when they make a big deal out of it, though.
