I remember this movie, a LONG time ago, probably close to 30 years ago. Not sure of the plot or anything other than this guy had pens that blew up with the force of a grenade. I believe he was throwing them to make them explode, and they supposedly had 2 drops of the explosives in them, pointing out how powerful it was. I remember they guy saying he made one pen with 9 drops in it, and it would explode after someone picked it up and then set it down again, so whoever had it could never set it down. He had given it to someone, I believe a politician, who could be seen years later still holding the pen in his hand, when the guy made a comment that he was bluffing, and that the pen was just a regular pen. I'm fairly sure it was a movie, but it could have been a TV show. Any ideas? Thanks.
Awww.... this is a great childhood memory.
ghouck, that's from an episode of the TV series
Salvage 1 where Andy Griffith and his team rescue Richard Jaeckel from a corrupt African dictator, using pens containing something called monohyrdozine.
The ending has the dictator screaming to his lackeys "This! Somebody take this!" when Griffith has told him he musn't let go of the pen. Years later, the idiot is still holding onto the pen.
I just checked the IMDB: the episode is called
Operation Breakout with Moses Gunn as the stationery obsessed dictator.
I am giving you karma for the childhood memory ~ I still remember the team singing
Amazing Grace when they come to rescue Jaeckel, all the lackeys applaud and then Griffith snarls "Nobody move or we'll blow this place to smithereens!" and yanks the pens out of his pocket.
