I was wondering if anyone else had seen this film? I watched it today with my kids and was rolling in the floor at how bad it was. It felt like Sin City meets the Batman TV series form the 60's. The dialogue was corny at times and the whole film reeked of campiness. I will admit I never read the source material it was based on so I don't know if it was suppose to be that way or was an attempt at humor. One scene that made me laugh out loud was when Samuel L. Jackson was dressed in a Nazi SS uniform. Overall it was not the worst film I had seen but it wasn't a good movie by any means.

A good bad movie is like popcorn for the soul!

It was cheesy all right . . . but in a good kind of way.  I rather enjoyed it.  The banter between hero and villain was campy and fun.  It was sort of a high-tech version of the old Batman TV series.  I think I started a thread on it somewhere in here . . .

At first, I had some reservations about this film.  I watched it, and the humor just felt wrong.  Like if there'd been a pie fight in the middle of Sin City.

But going back to the source material? Humor is an essential part of Eisner's Spirit stories.

So now I'm a little more comfortable with it.  I could have done without the Spirit's pants falling down and the onlooker shouting, "You'll believe a man can't fly!"

Whilst I personally thought it was too cheesy for the most part, I enjoyed it thoroughly.  It's nice to see people playing with the digital form more, and the Spirit and Sin City very much play with things such as colour correction.  Even simple things like the heart beat scene were just great: we need much more art in film, and they very much have it in spades.

It's young, so I'd like to see more of these techniques can grow and mature, so I can forgive some of the errors these films have.

In any case, pretty babes are nice to look at so you can watch these films easily on mute...
