I have been thinking about this one really bad movie that I saw on demand about 1.5 or 2 years ago (roughly in late 2007 or early 2008). This scientist is exposed to a chemical which completely destroys his facial structure and skin. He works on making an artificial skin. However, this artificial skin slowly burns when exposed to light. He then pursues villains and becomes a hero-type character. He has a girlfriend or fiance who thought he was dead from the accident which he gets his problem. He constantly works to find a cure for his situation. I believe he sets up a mob boss by recreating the mob boss' face with the artificial skin and wearing it. I am completely at a loss for this movie's name. I think i remember seeing the GM Renaissance Center in a scene which leads me to believe that this movie takes place in Detroit.

Darkman!

The forgotten Sam Raimi film. I haven't seen this in years, but it may be time to watch it again.

Yes, Darkman!  The best comic book movie of all time, even though it isn't really based on a comic book!

You are right this is how comic book movies should be made! Despite having 2 mostly forgettable sequels this film is much better than Raimi's Spiderman offerings.
