I'm working on an outline and since I've only scene most of the original Ultraman series, and there have been tons since, I've wonder if my work is roughly all ready done. I'm trying to do a darker version/deconstrucion of this sort of genre. You know: giant monster around the world, defense force, guy bonds with alien and becomes super-hero and fights them.

Stuff I'm planning to deconstruct.
-Ineffective military, not so, quite effective and sometimes it is THEY who kill the giant beastie.
-Wonderfully benevolent alien creature that helps man-kind, not so in my story but it seems like it at first.
-Only one woman on the team and shes...communications/coffee server...a heh-heh-heh!
-"Why the hell are all the monsters Godzilla sized anyway!?"

I plan to turn the work into a comic book (probably posted on the internet, if it goes through) and I've even started emailing Andrew about researching Marines since most of the cast are in the corps. I've even assigned my artist, who actually has heard of Ultraman, in researching the less silly monster movies.

-Gojira
-Godzilla, Mothra, King Ghidorah
-Godzilla 1985
-Gamera Trilogy.

So does anyone have any stables of the genre they want to bring to my attention/suggest movies for research/tell me that Ultraman has all ready done something like this and this is for naught? No it's not ultraman but I forgot the name of the genre.

Tokusatsu for a single henshin hero, Sentai for a team of them.  And yes, it's been done before.  Everything has.  Don't worry about it and go ahead with your story.

Aaaah Tokusatsu, that's the name. I'm glad I know now.
I remember you Akiratubo and do you know who or where it's been deconstructed before?
