Fortean author John Keel has died at the age of 79. Best known for The Mothman Prophecies , Keel wrote a fascinating and often hilarious column for FATE magazine and published several books on the paranormal.

Keel lived for many years as a recluse in New York and rarely made public appearances.

Oddly enough, just a couple of weeks ago I started re-reading his books and was pleasantly surprised to find he was still with us.

Millions are mourning Michael Jackson and Steve McNair. Me, I'm gonna mourn for John Keel.  :bluesad:

So turn off your cable box, disconnect your antennae, or tune your radio between stations and you may just hear a farewell message from Keel in the static!

If you're an Andy Milligan fan there's no hope for you.

An interesting and enigmatic man.  Whether he was right in any of his speculations, who knows?  But he made life more fascinating with them.

OH NO! The Mothman Prophicies and Strange Creatures from Time and Space are great books! I recall reading his writing in Fate and Flying Saucer Review as well. RIP
