You guys on this forum are great. Almost every question has been answered and when I was looking for a book title you sent me to Abe's, after 32 years I found the book I was looking for. Now a new challenge.
I have never seen this movie. I read about it on a B movie page somewhere. It was a Japanese disaster movie I thought it was Japan sinking 1973 but now not sure. The picture in the review has a sailboat and 4 or 5 people were standing on the port side rail with their right foot, left foor over the water, right hand holding a mast rope and they were wearing a 1 piece oversized suit. the review said the move was controversial and had  racial tones? HELP!

I will try to help, I think the movie is -
Nosutoradamusu no daiyogen 1974 a disaster movie, end of the world.

aka Catastrophe: 1999, aka The Last Days of Planet Earth.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0071923/

Director: Toshio Masuda

Japanese film.

"Professor Nishiyama, after studying and interpreting the prophecies of Nostradamus, realizes that the end of the world is at hand. Unfortunately, nobody listens to him until it is too late. As the effects of mankind's tampering of the earth - radioactive smog clouds, hideously mutated animals, destruction of the ozone layer - rage out of control, the world leaders hurtle blindly toward the final confrontation."
