My eldest daughter, whom I lost custody of as a child has decided to move in with me. She's almost 18 and still has two years of school left. She failed school last year because she kept skipping it. She had been living with her maternal grandfather since her mother passed away. I prefer not to get into the why because it's personal and not something I want to post. Just that her moving in has brought about a lot of changes in my home. For starters she has a small petting zoo, and she has the rebellious streak that ran through me when I was a teen. Also my eldest daughter is a lesbian. Granted her grandfather doesn't know but I do. She had been telling him she was having friends sleep over as an excuse to let her girlfriend to spend the night with her. I told her that wasn't going to happen here. It turns out I am more strict than he was but that is cause I know more about her than he did. Thus I know what it's going to take to rein her in to behave and complete school. Her grandparents are expecting her to want to move back in with them in a few months cause they know my rules as well. So we will see.
Right now I am a bit overwhelmed cause I had never expected this to happen while she was still in school. I had always figured it would happen when she was an adult and needed somewhere to live other than on the street. But hey, life's funny that way and things you never expect get throw at you at times and not always something bad. This one is mostly good except for the fact she owns a chihuahua. I hate those dogs with a passion.

Wow.  Dunno what to say.  Have you guys kept in touch and stuff while she was growing up?

Sounds like you guys may be doing some head bumping and arguing, but hopefully she'll get things straightened out and you two will become closer for it.

Best of luck!

that's like this nightmnare I always have where I am trying to pass a test to graduate high school even though I am 34.

not to ory but I think at 18 sahe is an adult and having a girlfriend over is not the same as if she was 14.  plus, it's a girl.  she's not going to get knocked up

Good luck to you, I hope you can forge a relationship with your daughter and give her some help and guidance at a crucial time in her life.
