this one is probably easy for most of you. this movie has some kind of mutant or demonic baby that kills people. I can barely remember but I think the baby may have had sharp teeth and claws, and maybe some black eyes. I can remember it always making that crying sound, even when it was killing somebody. I can also remember it escaping through ventilation shafts. A movie like this has got to be a cult classic.

This movie comes to mind.  I haven't seen it in ages though.

It's Alive! was one of the first "modern" horror films I caught on cable one night (this would have been around 1981 or 82) with my mom, who wouldn't let me leave the room  :buggedout: Scared the crap out of me so much that despite loving Larry Cohen's other films that since then I haven't watched it again, nor any of the sequels. Thanks mom.

The Unborn, has a very similar baby. So does the movie Creepozoids, if I recall well.
Another film in a similar vein is Baby Blood.

Seen it. Never cared for it, but it did scare the crap out of me, as well. It did spawn two sequels, neither of which I've seen: "It Lives Again (aka "It's Alive II") from 1978 and "It's Alive III: Island of the Alive." from 1987.

There was also--apparently--a remake done last year. It never played here in theaters, but only overseas, but the dvd of it--supposedly-- is coming out on October 6 of this year.

There was also the film "The Bat People" from the same year as the original, 1974, which to cash in on the success of "It's Alive" was also called "It's Alive" in some venues.
