I don't know if this is good or bad and I wonder how it will affect the Marvel movies.

NOOOOOO!!!!!!!! Disney is one step closer to owning the entire world! We have to stop them before it's to late.

In all honesty, Disney probably won't mess with all that much.  As long as Uncle Walt's dream is racking in big bucks they won't care.  Although, I wonder what will happen with super hero land in Universal Stuidos now.  Hmmmm...

You expressed my thoughts exactly.

I haven't followed the story that much past the headlines, but I do think these are the things worth considering.

1. Stan Lee
He is already an employee of Disney and has been for the past couple of years in project development. I don't know how much influence he had in all this, but it is a question worth raising.

2. Pixar
Is owned and has been owned by Disney for a number of years, and, at least, under Robert Iger's administration, has had pretty much a free hand to do what they want. If Pixar is any indication, Marvel should be the same.

3. Theme Parks
Will we see rides and attractions based on the Marvel characters in the Disney theme parks? I don't know, but I do know that the Imagineers that create the rides and attractions are unexcelled in creating rides and attractions for the theme parks and have been for the past 54 years. That is to the good, but . . .

4. Universal
What does that mean for Universal who has several rides and attractions based on the Marvel characters, when the contracts to use those characters are up? I don't know, but the Wizardly World of Harry Potter looks better and better every day.

5. Wall Street
A very typical sale of its type. Disney offering its stock and cash for the Marvel stock. And the initial reaction being very typical. The company being bought, here Marvel, its stock going up in price, and the company buying, here Disney, its stock going down in price. Though, it has moved up some since the initial news.

6 Good News/Bad News
I don't know how to word this otherwise, because it all depends upon what's your opinion of Spiderman as a musical. But the possible sale of the company has already had one effect. The idea for "Spiderman: the Musical" was canceled--apparently--because of cash flow issues. Well, whatever cash flow issues there were have--apparently--been solved, because the idea of "Spiderman: the Musical" is back on.

7. Speculation
There is and will be alot of speculation on this. Some of it will be correct,  but much of it will be wrong. Thus, don't believe everything you hear and read on this. Take everything with the proverbial grain of salt. And we will see what happens in the future.

I don't think it's anything to worry about too much, either.  Disney owns lots of stuff that doesn't carry their label. From what I've read this won't have any effect on any films currently in development, and Universal Studios will retain their right to the Marvel stuff in their theme park, but all Disney parks excluding Disney World can now use Marvel characters.

What will happen to the actual "comics" tho'? i.e. Can't really see Ghost Rider's skull being revealed under burning flesh, demon dudes getting their asses kicked with chains and all with a lil' disney trademark slapped on the front.  Question

I don't think anything'll change except maybe for some fine print.  According to Wikipedia, Disney owns the following (among lots of other things):

Touchstone Pictures
Hollywood Pictures
ImageMovers Digital
Miramax Films

So Disney basically owns the Kill Bill movies, No Country for Old Men, Trainspotting, and some of the Hellraiser sequels among lots of other non-family friendly fare.

Pilgermann speaks true, this only improves Disney's stock.

As far as I know, Marvel will still do their own thing.

I doubt Disney would mess with anything of Marvel's creations that could hurt them finanically or drive people away.   Personally, with these development, I am pysch to think about seeing Spider-Man or Wolverine in Kingdom Hearts 3 fighting Heartless.

You know what, a coworker and I were talking about what this means for Kingdom Hearts.  Seeing a lot of the ideas were dried up in the last two games, now it can start anew.
