Watched "Attack of the Crab Monsters" several months ago and it reminded me of another crab monster movie which I just can't remember (and can't find in google).  I saw this once as a kid and it scared me to death.  I recall that these rocks would change into crabs and attack people (maybe taking them over).  The only thing that would fend them off is fire.  One scene had a guy sitting in a small ring of burning wood, coconuts or some such.  That's all I recall.  Any guesses?

Perhaps "The Killings at Outpost Zeta" (1980).

You can see a collage of stills from the movie here:

That might help determine if it is the film you are remembering.

The FDA has been looking for a generic name for Viagra. After careful consideration by a team of government experts, it recently announced that it has settled on the generic name of Mycoxafloppin. Also considered were Mycoxafailin, Mydixadrupin, Mydixarizin, Dixafix, and of course, Ibepokin.

Thank you both, the clips look interesting, but it's not the one.  The one I saw took place on Earth, many beach settings (palm trees), people trying to flee the creature unsuccessfully because any old black rock could be one of them, crab creatures, think they took over people, ...

Maybe I have to run into by accident one of these days.  Have tried searching on rocks, crabs, invaders, alien, beach, etc. but no luck...

How about "Corpus Earthling" - an episode of the original "Outer Limits" series.  The things in the rocks that took over people come out and look like inky black ticks.  The protagonist flees to some remote motel or house in the desert when he is trying to avoid the things, which has palm trees.  There are some scenes with fire, and the man sets fire to the house at the end of the episode.  People taken over look terrible aged.

After some research on Corpus Earthling that sounds like it.  Looks like another one for the "Solved" bucket.  Thank you!

Glad to be of service!  I pulled the DVD off the shelf, and after watching it I believe that it is 98% likely to be what you are looking for.
